A few months ago I had an amicable breakup with my long term GF, she moved to another state for work. Also, my roommate moved to another state for work for a few months, so I'm living alone now for the first time. All of my childhood friends are on the east coast and I only see them 1-2 times a year. I have a handful of other friends just not very close ones. I've become extremely isolated.

I have a stressful job that's very mentally draining and I'm pretty introverted - interacting with people, even most of my closest friends, is just plain mentally taxing. Between not really wanting to socialize in the first place and not having my closest friends around to go do things with I just have no desire to spend time with people. I have several hobbies that are all social-optional so I'm not even forced to interact with people when I do the things I enjoy.

I obviously recognize that this is bad and counter productive to replacing these people in my life but I just dread expending the mental energy to do it. Dealing with people is just such a chore. I haven't felt this averse to socializing in many years.

How do I get out of this rut?
