Two reasons, because it’s valuable and because female attraction in general is more multidimensional than male attraction.

Women stand to lose more with sex than guys do so they need to much more pickier when choosing a sexual partner. Since women in general don’t give sex away it’s more valuable.

Because sex is more fun when it's with someone you know, and the more work / tension built up the better it is. The more satisfying the catch when the fishing is tough. More importantly, women usually need some sort of emotional attraction before they want to fuck. Some don't but most do... Even if it's a small amount. Basically, girls work and think differently dude. The quicker you embrace it the better

You could always pay for it if you’d like. I find countries in which prostitution is legal, extremely different than what goes on here in the US. Everyone is more relaxed about things, and sex is not a big deal, or the ultimate objective.

Because women have been wired to weed out the biological losers through evolution. Now a days the technology has evened the playing field amongst men. However technology and society has evolved faster than our brains, so we still process things through an evolutionary stand point.

Women can afford to be more picky. It's a damn meat market for them while we are the display items waiting to be picked.

The more appealing you make your 'brand' the higher chance you have.

It sucks but it's the reality of western life.

I say western because in Europe, women being more promiscuous is culturally accepted and not looked down upon. I feel men and women are much more equals there and I think a big part of it comes down to the naked human body being celebrated there, in paintings, sculptures, everywhere in the public view so they grow up with sex being a normal part of life and not taboo and secret.

(I often saw guys you would consider a 5/10 at best punching well above their weight with women who are like 8s.)

Then you have western culture where we shame women for enjoying sex, and make a big deal about nudity, so we kinda have our selfs to blame there.

An understandable, but incorrect conclusion.

The point is not that you do xyz and bam, sex as a reward.

The point is, if you want to have good people in your life, sex partners included, then you need to be taking care of yourself.

As for the things you honed in on, "dressed better, lost weight, better diet," it's noteworthy that NONE of these things matter for shit when it comes to getting laid.

The things that matter are confidence, attentiveness, and that sort of thing.

It's great to feel good about your life, don't get me wrong, but it's not like you diet to get laid.

There are too many people on this planet. That, and compounded to the fact that many people who want partners want high expectations from their mates for survivability and resources, you have to be worth having sex with to some people.

Sure, you can have a moment of sex with someone it depends on where you look for said person who's willing to do it but outside of that many people are afraid of seeming "off". It takes a lot of mental reprogramming just to make the attempt to talk to a girl if someone hasn't done so in their lives and it's tough.

Read Sex at Dawn, it goes into a lot of detail about how sex has been commodified since the advent of agriculture and compares what sexual relations look like in a lot of hunter gather tribes that still exist. When women are treated as equals, not looked down on for sleeping with whoever they want and have control over their own destinies, you'll find much more sexually liberal societies.

You don’t.

You do it so you have a better baseline and have to put in less effort to get the hottest girls.

You can be perfectly average and get a perfectly average looking girl or even decently above average looking depending on how you play your cards, assuming you try.

If there’s one thing that actually getting girls taught me is that the difficulty level of doing so is way overblown. You need to try but it shouldn’t be a herculean task.
