Being able to hold or start a conversation is a skill. Just like guitar, or basketball, or sewing, the more you practice conversation, the better you become at talking to people, especially strangers, all while helping with social fears and anxieties.

I was always more introverted and quiet growing up and didn't really enjoy talking with people outside my social circle, mainly bc I wasa bit quiet and didn't know how to start and maintain conversation. That all changed after I started bartending.

I got a job bartending at a restaurant a couple nights a week to pay off student loans quicker. It was good money and a friend got me to work with him. The job forced me into social interactions with strangers. My job and income was dependent on my ability to talk to people.

At first I didn't really have quality conversations with guests and couldn't really initiate conversation with them, but over time i got better and better and it really changed me as a person and developed my social skills and conversational skills.

It really helped me with women too bc my ability to start and hold a conversation had grown so much I didn't have the anxiety talking to strangers and had the skill to do it. It truly is amazing how forcing yourself into social situations can really help make you a more social and conversational person. I also got paid to learn these skills.

You read a lot about how you need to force yourself to go out and socialize to get better with women so I just thought I'd share how I did it and got paid. So If you're not overrun with work and can afford the time to work once or twice a week at a bar, driving Uber, cutting hair, or any other job where you have forced interactions with people then you can develop your social and conversation skills all while getting paid.
