Why is it that mostly women ask for divorce? And why is it so hard for men? I hate her to the core but just cant seem to let go?

It's because of a few things.

Some guys don't file, no matter how horrible their marriage is, because of the divorce-rape in court. "It's cheaper to keep her."

Some guys don't file, because they can "get away" to work in an office or business trips.

That was me, until I reached my limit, and I filed for divorce.

Because we don’t do flashes in the pan and realize early on it’s like anything else - bargaining and with ups and downs. Even basic things such as eat dinner with me was a chore for her and when I finally just felt like a bank account I filed. I ended up pulling the papers after a bit but I don’t fix her problems like I used to and don’t accept her not contributing to the home or savings. I can go my own way but like the idea of someone being w me for daily ups, downs, mundane and I don’t feel I settled I simply got her to realize I’m pretty freaking amazing and got my shit together in just about all things. She’d disagree I assume but that’s ok. I realized she needs to feel she’s abit uncertain to have a goal or topics to chat about.

Men are arguably hurt more in divorce. Most custody is awarded to women. So if you love your kids, having your visitation restricted hurts more than staying with a bad wife. Spousal support benefits women more. It's really just not worth getting married anymore.

It's mostly women filing because women are more likely to reap a financial windfall from their higher-earning spouse, especially if kids are involved. It's all about money.

Simple answer I think women are surprised when marriage starts to feel like a big let down. While men sorta expect it at some point but are ok with the bargain. Generally speaking (there are exceptions of course): Men- view it as a lifelong agreement, and with that, anticipate the inevitable highs & lows inherent to life. Women- view it as goals to achieve and how it feels in any given time.

So for women they’re taught as young girls the importance of finding a husband, wedding day, etc. Most women I’ve encountered are very goal oriented (much more than me). So the biggest goal for many girls early on in life is to get married. The problem is like with any long term goal or achievement is how quickly the enjoyment fades once it’s reached. So by definition, marriage becomes maybe the biggest disappointment in their life at some point. Nobody can escape that (man or woman…it just happens). You’re going to bust your ass to get that promotion and new position…fast forward and boom you got it. How long do you derive enjoyment from that new title & pay increase? How long before they become ho-hum normal and it’s time to aim for something else? That’s not unique to men or women. That’s how humans are. We rarely stay happy with something before setting our sights to something else. But I think this is how marriage can be for women. Not that men don’t act on emotion (they do), but I think women are more prone to make a decision on something like divorce based on how they feel about their spouse in a given moment.

Find a new woman. It doesn’t have to be serious or anything like that. It will do wonders for your psychological well-being.

The problem is is that every woman will make you feel like she’s the only one in the world, and the only one for you.

This is patently false.

Part of the problem is that they truly believe this, and when they see it’s not the case, it breaks them.

Wasn’t that difficult for me. Cheat and lie to me for five months, I think it’s pretty logical to file. We also have no kids or serious assets, so why would I stay with a lying cheater? Papers all the way.

You're not used to going it alone in society. That is your job now. Learn to have a good life. Set up a nice place to live. Learn to cook. (Cooking for one is a bit of a challenge but you'll get it.) Decorating. Clothing. Remembering the special days of others. Lots of things that fill up a life. Learn all this stuff and more. It'll be fun and in the end you'll look around and say.."I did OK".

I was the petitioner. I don’t hate her, but felt we had just morphed into a weird low-level contemptuous tolerance for each other, and I didn’t see that changing.

I think she was more upset that her easy autopilot life was being disrupted where she would have to take responsibility for things.

Current life isn’t perfect, but making the most of it and trying to stay busy.

We’re taught to fix things, make the best of what we have, we value what we’ve built, the life, the family, all of it. Many women these days don’t put in any effort, they think that they are the prize. And they have nothing to lose, they get half of what they didn’t contribute to, plus a monthly stipend for having a child and/or being married for so many years.

Woman I love and cared for 13 years…just called off marriage in a silly argument, no regards for the kids and now seeking spousal support from a year back claiming we were separated long back but just living in the same house.

I cannot imagine..i gave 13 years of my life to her and we have 3 beautiful kids…but i was so blind and could never figure out that she would be so superficial and materialistic
