I saw a reel on Instagram about the biggest red flag being a woman who “externalizes” everything. Basically she couldn’t control her emotions, her internal feelings and so in turn she just tried to control everything else around her. Wanted the house SPOTLESS despite having 2 kids under 5yo. Blamed me for the messiness of the house. Tried to control me, tried to control what emotions I could or could not have or voice. This really hit home for me. And I do not miss that part of it at all.

However, looking back on the whole thing. We had so many advantages, we were so lucky in terms of finances, health, kids and jobs. Why on earth anyone would elect to divorce is beyond me. I wasn’t crazy in love with my wife, I mean we had been together 13 years. But the partnership was solid, and we were headed towards and amazing 2nd half of our lives. This has now set me back probably a decade.

I have dreams every night about her, that’s not an exaggeration. How could someone be so unhappy when they had everything? I guess we could have taken more trips, or done some stuff as a family more. But in the end it’s like, what was missing other than 2 imperfect people being together trying to make it work? I’ve just chocked it up that I have very simple needs. I thought she did too, and I thought we did a decent job of meeting them.

Now trying to date, been with 3 notable women over the past year. Nothing too notable came out of that. Just wonder when my life will start getting better. It seems like it’s been forever.
