I was recently chatting with a girl I've been spending some nights with. She's totally into me, but that's not the point. She's heading back to her home country for two months for the holidays. During our conversation, she mentioned that she doesn’t plan on being with anybody else while she’s there, even though she has other options.

She told me that if she wanted to, she could call up some guys who would be eager to spend the night with her. Basically, she was saying she had options. However, she also mentioned that she doesn’t really like any of them and wouldn’t be with them.

This got me thinking. Doesn't this mean she doesn’t actually have options? It seems like a clear case of cognitive dissonance. It's like saying I have tons of options if you count all the girls who are into me but who I don't find attractive. Are those really options then?

I told her this, that she doesn't truly have options, since she's not planning on being with any of those guys because she's not attracted to them. You should've seen the look of confusion on her face.

It’s an interesting perspective on how women perceive availability and attraction. What do you guys think?

Edit: I'm not looking for advice. This is merely something I noticed other women say, that they have options, as in other guys want to be with them, but they don't want to be with these other guys. So it's really not options, right? That's it, that was my point..
