For you personally, have you ever considered that you weren't getting laid when you played video games because you were spending too many HOURS playing video games ? Solitary hobbies are detrimental to socializing but the solution is to do those solitary hobbies in moderation. Not to cut out any alone time you have completely.

You're technically correct about your assement but this is dog shit holistic advice. Can you get more women by doing hobbies women find attractive? Probably yeah But I think it's ok for men to have something for themselves and not optimize every thing for the opposite sex.

Women are definitely more prone to discard their individuality in order to attract the opposite sex but it affects men too and it's still not ok.

I think women should like celebrity gossip and doing makeup but it's probably good to have a surface level knowledge about video games and sports . I think men should like video games and other nerdy hobbies but they should also try to learn to cook , maybe go to a dance class every week or do the other attractive hobbies you mentioned.

Btw this might be changing just a heads up. Im one of the young ones here and girls are really into games these days. Hell, a few of the girls I was hooking up with introduced me to stuff like volarant, fortnite, overwatch and life is strange.

Stopped gaming for a good while before meeting these girls; ended up being a nice bonding time playing with them (and their girl friends too lol)

No one cares if you enjoy video games, I enjoy video games too - the unattractive element is when video games consume your life.

If your work, social life and sex life take a nose dive as a result, you don’t exercise, cook meals, clean your house, bathe properly/regularly or see sunlight so you can spend more time on video games then yeah, it’s grim. But if it’s fun past time and not your only interest, it’s totally normal to enjoy video games

There’s a difference between a destructive obsession and an enjoyable hobby.

If you don’t turn video games into a destructive obsession, it won’t affect your life or success with women much.

I’m a dating coach and I’m a hardcore gamer. I still play like 2-4 hours daily these days. When I was at the top of my game sleeping with literally hundreds of women (am settled down now) I used to play video games easily 5-8 hours a day lol. Got over 10k hours in Dota, over 20k in Counter strike and so on while actively dating around, going to clubs, cold approaching, etc.

Played all of my childhood as well. And it actually WAS a problem back then because I would rather play on my pc than go out with friends and socialize. But it all evened itself out after college when I realized I had shit social skills and needed to learn them.

It’s all about priorities lol

But I don’t agree that most women won’t find certain hobbies attractive. I talk a LOT about video games on my dates. It’s all about how you present things. Every hobby can be either attractive or unattractive, depending on how you present it.

You’re actually being inauthentic if you hide certain hobbies you genuinely enjoy but which are deemed “unattractive” by society when you’re around women. Which WILL negatively affect your game. But when you don’t give a shit about what society says is attractive or unattractive and just do your thing and own it, women will respond very positively to you. Unless it’s something objectively harmful or bad lol

I think you are conflating correlation with causation. Nerdy hobbies are often looked down upon because there is correlation between the hobby and the person who does it also being nerdy, socially awkward and unattractive. A nerdy hobby doesn’t directly cause a guy to become unappealing.

What I have found to be infinitely more effective is to stop being ashamed of hobbies or aspects of your personality. Once you stop feeling bad about those things, then no one else can use those to attack you or shame you.

But I’m also not going to act like the women who judge men for these hobbies or others arent the same type of women who bitch about video games and then browse tik tok and watch netflix 5 hours a night after work.

I think it’s weird that people chase the easy way out by picking mainstream hobbies so they can get a default regular woman. You can literally take the harder but more fun route of finding a woman who enjoys whatever geeky nerdy hobby you like. Changing your core beliefs just to smash stanley cup girls is fine but you’ll get tired of it faster than if you’re with a woman who enjoys what you enjoy. Considering most girls under 30 these days are either into anime, PC’s, or gaming themselves, I hard disagree.

This post really lacks critical thinking if you believe the reddit post ("study") claiming as much. There is some truth but only when you add to the original claim- gaming is unattractive(if you play 8 hours a day), collecting figures is unnattractive(if you overspend and obsessive over it). I spent hours a day going through pokemon cards and researching them at age 18... an hour a day? not unattactive. The time I spent? unattractive if they didn't know I made tons of money off it. The passion from making money and learning how to predict what will go up in value? very attractive. The things you listed as attractive are things that someone should do just to increase their worldview, social skills, and mindset. The problem is, if you do those only to attract others, you won't bring a passionate attitude to anything which is a turn off itself. The type of woman worth marrying is one that will let you yap about stupid figurines and then she will yap back about some hobby she has passion in. The worst part of the original post is it fails to mention the most attractive hobby in all areas of life-Reading. Not only can you explore your passions through reading, you can grow in almost any area of life.

It's not the video games. It's lack of socialization and experience from being solitary for too long. As long as you keep the video games in check and make sure to have other things going on that get you in front of a variety of different people, it's fine to keep video games in your life.

Hell even the girls who say they're not into gamers aren't telling you that they'll still date a gamer if he's doing stuff that they like and has an attractive body.

I can tell you that from experience. My last Gf was all "I don't usually date gamers." Sure but the idea of a gamer in her head was a shut in. I also play soccer, lift regularly and have fun with friends. I would play whether she liked it or not. And she knew that. I also didn't pick apart her interests.

As long as you're not a shut in and take care of your physical/mental health and can hold a fun and flirty conversation, women will line up to be with you games or not.

Beyond what women think, video games are an unproductive time suck. Everyone can have their escapist getaway from time to time so don’t feel shamed for partaking every now and then, but moderate them as a free time activity because at best it’s dead weight on your life and at worst it’s actively harming your mental health

I could not agree more. I had no idea how much time I was wasting on video games until the day Valve released a counter of hours played on Steam. This was around 2007 or so I think. That very day I uninstalled Steam and decided to do something about my inexistant dating life. So glad I did. Are your hobbies building you or are they destroying you?

The only evidence I typically see to back this up is in cases where the woman herself is toxic/has no hobbies, when that hobby is a big portion of the guy's personality, when it negatively impacts other areas of the guy's life, etc. I used to spend a few hours every single day sorting through bulk pokemon cards, at first it came off unattractive to some until I mentioned how much $ it made me. It was very fun for me to collect/buy/resell them and I was full of passion which that passion then resonated in my social life. Playing an hour or 2 of valorant/rocket league with my friends was fine for my past partners as I grew socially and had time for relaxation/introspection/etc. ..Playing rust for 8-12 hours straight every Thursday and Friday like it was a job and actually stressful contributed some social skills as I met and talked with tons of people. That social aspect was outweighed by the negatives as it was harmful mentally/physically/financially. Notice how the turn offs were the things that took too much time with no/minimal return socially/financially/physically/mentally?

However, if your goal is to get women, you need to start cutting these hobbies out of your life.

So if you're serious about improving your chances with women, then drop the controller and pick up one or more of the hobbies I just listed and you will see your dating life change before your eyes.
