The movie is actually 'No Hard Feelings'. The plot is that a couple pay 32 year old Jennifer Lawrence to have sex with their virgin 19 year old son. I never saw the movie because I find the idea reprehensible. Lawrence is prostituting herself, and the 19 year old apparently isn't able to decide for himself when and who it's all right to have sex with. I agree with Lawrence that there's a double standard in how the movie was received. Can you imagine if the roles were reversed and the parents were paying a 32 year old man to have sex with their 19 year old daughter?

In my opinion, society wants to kill this age old tradition since more women are staying unmarried well into their early 30s. Men have practicing this for generations as it takes time to accumulate resources for marriage, a woman simply has to be ( in simple terms) to attract a man for marriage. As a male, I want a younger woman with whom I can build a family around. And we can take our time doing it. She could also go to school with a husband who can afford to support her. Also, women mature much faster than men so there may be an age gap on paper but not much in the maturity gap and how you both see life.

The “backlash” was from people who are simply consistent with their views, most would probably react the same way if not worse if the genders were reversed.

Women can date whoever they want and women are not really judged to the same extent that heterosexual men are judged for by any regard. The only real judgement will come from other women, because women dating younger men are typically dating down in most regards and that is an unpopular position among women.

No one is going to call a 30 year old woman a pedophile or a predator for dating a 21 year old woman, because his "brain hasn't fully develop" or "he's just easier to manipulate". Women make far worse judgements in dating, often rooted in all kinds of prejudices or irrational choices, and still get a free pass because "women will be women". Jen is not making an argument that is rooted in reality, and just fishing for feminist pity points.

This is dribble because men are being constantly shamed for dating younger women in real life.

They used to constantly go after Clooney and whine about his refusal to settle down. Now they've chilled out as they approve of his missus. Also there seems to be an it's okay if he marries her approach.

With Leo D'Caprio they are currently going full on calling him a groomer and a rapist. I've seen articles that as he dates under 25 and under 25 your brains are still developing then he is effectively hitting on someone who cannot consent.

If anything the double standard is the other way around now as it's all high fives when a women dates a younger man. Look at Sam Taylor-Wood and Aaron Taylor Johnson. If the genders were reversed there'd be extra admonishment due to the power difference of a Director dating her actor.

Studies exist showing that across many cultures, women marry a man 4-5 years older than her, on average. Even in highschool, girls will prefer to date a year or two above their own. It appears to be a biological directive, as both men and women seem happy with the arrangement.

It's when the biological reality is violated that people tend to have an issue.

Read about ten comments and here's my take on it. Two things can be true at the same time. Feminists are hypocrites when it comes to older women dating younger men and there is a double standard in how society looks at older women dating younger men. There's a good reason for the double standard a man over 40 can have children with a 20 year old woman but it's not likely to happen the other way around. Therefore the younger man is potentially giving up the opportunity to have children and that's not good for society. It's not about fair it's about the good of society

People shame each other both ways. An older woman that wants younger men is called a Cougar, and completely sexualized for it when that just may be her preference and/or options at the time.

A man that has a preference for younger women when that just may be his preference and/or options at the time is called a creep.

Stop shaming people both ways and let them be happy in their partnerships. Love is hard enough to find
