Around 10 years ago I had my wife of 15 years step out on me. It was just devastating on so many fronts. She was the only one I trusted. She was who I gave my virginity to. And her me. It was special.

When we were final three years ago I knew two things. First, I was going to have a hard time trusting anyone ever again. It was just true. And it hurt me so much because I didn't want it to be that way. I was sort of forced into this.

Secondly, I set out on the quest for THE TRUTH. Not your truth or my truth.....but THE TRUTH.

Well friends.......I present to you the Look, Like, Love method.

I wanted to share with my fellow betrayed because I know most of us have tried in our own way to be vulnerable. To open ourselves with people. Loved ones and so forth. And sometimes that has come at a high price. So let me share how you can heal if you have ever been betrayed or hurt by someone.

I have learned how to heal. Completely. It's the most simple yet profound thing to do.

  • Smile at yourself in the mirror. Oh too easy? Do it for 30-60 seconds. Look in the mirror and smile at yourself. No distractions. Watch how that works the first few times. You will get a little spark within yourself. It will seem weird at first but you'll like it. Then it will challenge you.

  • Once you are able to accomplish that then look yourself in the eye and smile and then tell yourself "I like you _____".

  • Once you are able to accomplish that and are able to tell yourself that you like yourself.......then look in the mirror and say "I love you ______"

This process took me around 3 years to be able to do and really meaning it and not becoming emotional. Just to get the words out of my mouth took some time.

This is the way the world changes. People don't smile at themselves. They don't tell themself that they like them or love themself.

This is how we heal. One moment at a time. Smiling at ourselves.. Liking ourselves. And most importantly, loving ourselves.

I hope you find whatever works for you on your quest for truth in this world of selfishness. I truly do. Onward and upward my friends!
