Lately, I’ve been feeling stuck socially, especially with dating and how people interact with me. I tend to overthink, hesitate, and play it safe, and I feel like it’s been holding me back.

I was thinking—what if I created an alter ego that’s the complete opposite of how I normally act? Instead of hesitating, I’d take action. Instead of doubting myself, I’d assume people are into me. Instead of playing it safe, I’d escalate.

Has anyone ever intentionally switched up their personality—leaned into confidence, boldness, or even a different social vibe—and seen a shift in how people respond? Was it uncomfortable at first? Did it feel fake, or did it actually help you grow?

Looking for real experiences and whether this kind of “alter ego” approach actually works to break old habits and build a new presence.v
