You have to play the slow game. Become a regular, but stay mysterious and aloof and keep things brief. Over time, if she finds you interesting, she will begin opening up more and making an effort to get to know you.

I'm cases like this the ball is primarily in her court because she's working and you are subject to external influences such as the store being busy or her having other obligations.

At least that's how it worked in my case. I found her cute but never made a move until she started talking to me more.

It's best to let her work when it's crowded. You'd probably be annoyed, too, if the line were held up with someone standing there babbling with the cashier. On a quiet day with no one in line, you could make small talk. But keep in mind she is stuck there working and you might be making her uncomfortable if you hit on her, so immediately move on and make your exit if she politely gives you hints to scram. She probably doesn't want to be confrontational with her job on the line so keep that in mind as well.

I don't know whats up with everyone and their cashiers. It feels like its the 10th time I'm seeing a post on how to approach a cashier. Why can't you approach a normal girl on the street somewhere? Or is it that cashiers are unbeliveably hot in far distant lands?

Context of previous interactions would help. As would understanding how busy she really gets at work. If it's really hard to have a lengthy discussion like you said it was (which I prefer if possible)...

You can play the long game and slowly generate tension. Demonstrate a little bit of value and learn 1 thing about her each interaction you have, which slowly builds into a more closer relationship.

Or, you can take a more direct approach, something like, "You know, grocery shopping used to be so lame, but ever since you started working here, it's gotten so much better. I'm not sure what it is... I wonder if you just make everything better? Get dinner with me tomorrow. I want to see if you would make eating better too."
