I kept the house.

Initially I wasn’t going to move, I have a special needs son. Also an elderly parent and no siblings in the area to help.

Since then my son has moved out into a residential program and is thriving. Parents health is declining too. Not happy about the latter part but 12-18 months from now they may no longer be here.

I may move later. The issue now is finding a new place to live, and even with being able to roll the gain over from this place to the next one, essentially having to start over with a mortgage.

New wife?

I’m open to it. Spending time working on me and this house in the meantime though.

Most cases I have seen, second marriage couples tend to sell and get a house together. Yes, prenup. The troubles I see in second marriages is the children from the first marriages and of course money. The largest hot messes come when someone stupidly marries the affair partner, that’s just satisfying/entertaining to watch!

Rent the house out while you buy a new one with your new wife. Then on your next divorce you have a fallback plan to get out quick.

1st don’t remarry without a solid prenup. If the house works for both you then keep it. But get the prenup. Failure rate on second marriage is higher than a 1st marriage.

Stayed in the house. But she wouldn’t let me buy her out. So she still owns half. Freaking frustrating. But plan on moving asap. I just became self employed like right before I caught her cheating so have to wait for two years of taxes so I can get a loan.

Nope. I’m proud of what I did to get my home and that I was the responsible one that qualified for a 3.1% mortgage. My kid sees this as her home and I’ve done a great job at recreating my life and this place.

All that said, the circumstances and history of the home could be much different and hold too many memories that can’t be let go of.
