Depends on your age. In 20s, prob. In 30-40s? Most people are divorced in my experience, as a single man it’s more rare to meet someone my age who’s single and never been married vs divorced.

I never thought about it until now, as my divorce isn’t official and dating seems like a distance for me at this point.

I can see though how women might automatically dismiss divorce men. This divorced taught me they tend to stick together without full context. They almost feel the need to support the woman no matter what. It’s the ‘pro-woman’ thing to do. As a man, you’re a red flag because you didn’t properly support your wife, which caused the divorce. I feel that’s the angle most women feel today about divorced men, unless they get to know that man first.

Don’t advertise it until a few dates where a woman can get a sense of your character and intent. Then it gets easier to frame your story to her.

I put single. I also never discussed my separation or divorce or marriage on the first few dates.

Sometimes but less so as I got older, and more women were themselves divorced. Then in a weird way it became a point of bonding.

When 80% of divorces are initiated by women, it’s easy to think that the divorced man was the problem.

If he wasn’t the problem and he goes on to say he was cheated on, or she was abusive, then often times someone might think the man must have not been that great or he was the reason she cheated.

There’s definitely a stigma. But also, you have to know your audience. Women in their 20s and 30s are wanting to get married and have kids of their own. If you’ve already been married and or have kids, then you’re probably not what they’re looking for anyway.

Don't put divorce on your profile. If you have kids, put a single dad of xxxx. Or you are single. That's it, if they are interested, you can tell them more later. How do I know this? From the women I know and it works. Also don't throw your life out there to someone you just started chatting with. Too much information. Men turned to say way too much when she's the one who should be talking. Also be patient, not every woman you talk to is a potential girlfriend, protect yourself. Always put peace over P.
