I've personally experienced this. Literally had people laugh at me in public when my ex was being verbally abusive. One time she ripped my sunglasses off my face and threw them on the sidewalk, and a passerby deliberately stepped on them and laughed as he walked past.

But what really got me was when I finally left that relationship, and sought social support from staunchly feminist friends as I was going through that separation. These are people who postured themselves as being very knowledgeable about abuse. I expected better from them. But it turns out they only applied that knowledge to women. As soon as a man was the victim, it was like their brains fell out.

These sorts of experiments were among the things that made me gain a consciousness about exactly how differently men and women are perceived and treated. It's one of those "once you see it..." things. Incidentally, 2014 is around the time I stopped just questioning feminism internally and just defected from their ranks altogether.

I've seen this video many times in the past. I think I was 14 or 15 when I saw it. It was my first exposure to how male victims of abuse do not get taken seriously.

This is horrific and shocking to me. Once my mom was like this to me in public when I was a child. Most people did nothing. In fact, one old lady called her out and for me. But then it was an old ugly dude who threw me out of the place.

I had to be fourteen and I was in middle school.

We were in a computer class and everything was good until a couple of girls showed up late. The way they already acted was so entitled and spoiled but I got up from my seat to go to the bathroom by the time I got back I got back just in time to witness these two girls throwing my jacket and backpack in the floor and taking my seat.

If this was any other time they would have gotten away with it but my male computer teacher saw the whole thing and he reprimanded them. He told them to pick my stuff up and go find a different seat and I'm glad he did that any other teacher would have just let it happen because they're little girls and this is the irony

If I would have walked up and hit each of these girls in the face I would have been the 1 that got in trouble and everyone would have came to their defense

I assure you that unfortunately, not a whole lot has changed. Male victims are still mocked offline and people still laugh at the guys getting abused by women in public.

I won't lie, but I feel I'd be conditioned similarly, and ik that's bad. Like I'd probably react if a man was bashing a woman, maybe less likely if the woman was bashing the man

but Idk why it'd be my business to film it, let alone be a dick to laugh... One guy even joined in on hitting him too...
So this goes beyond just simply action vs negligence, this is action vs going out of your way to ridicule and/or join in on the victim...

Did you see the cackling black guy sneak a hit in while the girl had him by the neck? Absolutely disgusting, I had to stop the video.

This was gross to watch. It almost makes me not want to advocate for men if I’m being honest. Literally ready to crash out and risk everything for some girl they don’t know. Most of them couldn’t even calm down fully even after they were told it’s a prank and showed the cameraman, that’s how deeply psychologically ingrained it is to be a crash out dummy for most men. Hopeless

The phenomenon on the video is probably real, but you should always still take this kind of social media "social experiments" with a grain of salt. By cherry picking the footage and editing it appropriately you can make it support almost any point you want.

I have seen quite a few of these over the years. Sometimes they even show that even if the woman was the initial aggressor and the man defended himself, bystanders would still react to protect her as if he were the aggressor.

So essentially not only can a woman do whatever she wants to a man in public and no one will care, but you can't even defend yourself without being labelled the abuser instead.

If you swap the genders or apply that dynamic to something like race, it would sound like something out of a horribly dystopian novel.

Tell me, who really has the upper hand in society? The side that can abuse the other and get away with it, right feminists?

i think people perceive that she's not a threat to him. like it or not the differences in our bodies still play a huge role in this dynamic
