I have two brothers I love, I have many guy friends I love (platonically)

I have plenty of good men in my life.

And I didn’t always realize some aspects of their lives are different and more difficult.

I’d always realized certain social and other aspects were harder.

But I didn’t know about big stuff, divorces, custody court, male victims (I mean I did kinda know about that but I didn’t see it in media before), and so on.

I want their rights to be protected.

They want my rights to be protected.

I’m a big supporter of rights in general tbf,

I’m not a feminist I’m an equalist. I just want us all to have the same rights.

I want to make sure if they ever have kids, they can have custody and not have kids taken for no reason and still have to pay the child support for a child they rarely ever see.

And I want my right to not have any and get good reproductive care (I have endo and adeno and could die or miscarry if I never tried to have a child)

We protect each others rights!

They care about mine I care about theirs!

But there’s other stuff, all the men’s body and sex shaming, partner shaming, expressing their feelings, not being put into stereotypes, less negative assumptions. No rigid stereotypes, more accountability for false accusations, domestic abuse against men taken more seriously! More support for lonely guys.

I just want the good guys who care abt me to also get care!

(I’m also here so I can learn about and better understand them and what they go through. Bc I’m a woman I’m not going to experience these things first hand I won’t know)

I also found the dadvocate, she really helped me expand my perspective! Sometimes it’s easier to have another woman explain it to me, she understands the same perspectives and hangs ups I’d have being a girl abt guy behavior I wasn’t trained to do or understand! but she dose actually understand and do really good work! She’s actively fighting to get dad’s more custody!

I'd say I was a misandrist, but I'm trying to improve as a person and being a misandrist doesn't work along with it because I realized hating an entire gender is pretty stupid. Also loads of man hating content gets pushed out more to younger women these days and this overtime has sorta became the default, so you have to break out from it.

I found this sub by accident then did some scrolling saw men do face societal issues and gave up misandry advocated for equality between the sexes

I want to say more about the point I said before. It's common for women to hate men when men hating media is pushed and directly targeted at them. It's not just the influencers it's the movies, tv shows, TikTok's and social media. Overall, so when you see something a lot you take it in as default and also hating men is a way for some women to bond. Another cause is there are bad men out there, and these bad men are seen as the representation for all men which can really ruin a gender's reputation. Another thing that the algorithm pushes out more is bad men that commit crimes rather the other majority of men who are most likely normal ones. Which can shape a world view that all men are bad. I was a misandrist growing up because I never had any interaction with real life men, because my outlook on men was purely formed by social media since I went to an all-girls school. When I had some project so I had to go abroad and see some men to discuss it I realized the media lied to me. That's what happens when we take everything on social media as reality instead of just someone else's experience. Just because someone had one bad experience with men doesn't mean all of them are bad.

But also, all this goes back to one root which is the woman's father figure. If he was toxic, then she won't trust men or like them. If she had a strong and supportive father figure, then she would have a better worldview on men. In today's society it's more likely to have a bad rather good relationship with your father. I myself didn't have a good relationship with him he was physically abusive. And shit like that does affect your view on men.

Probably when I was like first getting into what advocacy is. I couldn't say for sure but it probably started off with feminism and researching the unfair treatment of women and that naturally led into the other side for me.

I can be quite OCD about topics because I don't like to think information or opinions I keep are damaging anything or anyone wrongfully , so when stepping into feminism I never saw it as competitive to drown out mens voices and opinions. There can be problems both genders experience, there's nothing absolute about it. Unfortunately some people go about their advocacy in the wrong way like it's something to fortify and defend mindlessly.

I also don't stand for generalisation and thats what put me off speaking online in feminist spaces. I see it here also but not as frequent. But I genuinely despise generalising any gender and I don't respect that way of thinking even though I can recognise that it comes from a place of hurt sometimes or regarding something that is a big issue. However I don't support it because it's never true.

I'm not a massive advocate, and whenever I say it I mean it quite loosely. I personally think that being educated is all you need sometimes to close a gap or to lower a statistic. So I try my best to be informed on accounts of men's and women's rights.

My husband's first wife pressured him into an affective relationship through harassment, trespassing, and shedding tears then escalated to sexual coercion and finally a forced marriage through suicide threats.

He did attempt suicide once and after he woke up in hospital, the psychiatrist asked whether he was married and his wife's name and number.

In a private room still in the emergency department and my husband still in his hospital gown, the psychiatrist told him in his wife's presence that he'd attempted suicide as an alternative to killing her.

Shocked, he could say nothing but luckily for him, however psychologically and sexually violent his wife was, at least she wasn't the kind to make a false accusation. She ignored the psychiatrist's comment, turned to my now husband, and berated him for his attempt.

The psychiatrist, seeing that his wife had no fear of him and that he posed no threat to her, released him from hospital as if nothing had happened.

I was so shocked at his description of the hospital scene that he actually had to repeat it to me a few times before I understood that he really said what he said.

When I was in middle school, I started seeing a lot of neo-feminist activist stuff, and it was so incredibly frustrating to me. They were fighting for "equality" and demanding "equal rights" while they were shitting on men non-stop. And I couldn't follow them on their crazy mental gymnastics that said it was okay to claim to be a victim of discrimination, and then put up a sign that said, "equality cupcakes: 75¢ for women, $1.25 for men"

I joined the military, and in bootcamp, the men and women were separated. There was a point where one of our drill instructors was essentially fired, not because she was the scary one or the one who threatened us the most or the one who dragged us out of bed at nothing in the morning to put on and take off our gear a million times. But because she said "ass" in front of one of the girls. Who then reported her. Our in-charge drill instructor, after this happened, brought out a massive, 3-inch binder full of rules and regulations for the female bootcamp. She pointed at it and said, 'The males don't have this. These are only for females. Because of Mothers of America.'

At some point, I learned to always be dubious of media storms about men and sex, because when I was younger, a woman was able to claim that Justin Bieber had gotten her pregnant when he was 14 years old, and nobody questioned her for committing statutory rape. My mom was the one who did the mental math of the child and Bieber's ages, and talked over the radio station to berate the woman making the claim.

When I got married, of course, my perspective on men's issues exploded. I had realized men were treated differently. But I hadn't realized the extent of it. 'The only emotion you're allowed to feel is angry.' 'You will lose a custody battle.' 'Sexual assault is normal and casual and you just have to deal with it.' I had known it wasn't right, but I hadn't known it was so bad. And it only seems to get worse. I look at Hugh Jackman in X-Men (2000) and then in Deadpool 3 (2024) and lament at how a man's body is being treated in our society.

I knew for a long time it was different. But being close to a man, so that he was even allowed to talk to me about the problems he faced and faces, showed me just how bad it is. And I'm still surprised every now and then. And it sucks, because I love him to death and I know the vast majority of men are nice, considerate people who haven't gotten even a simple compliment in many months, aren't truly allowed to talk about what's bothering them, are expected to hold up the weight of their family's lives, and just need some basic human kindness. And it's unjust, and not nearly enough people are talking about it.

Because I have a little brother, he’s literally the light in my life, im the utmost protective of him, and I genuinely respect what men have done for us and my father was raped sadly. It opened my eyes to what so many other men go through, and I saw how wicked feminists are.

I genuinely respect men and how hard they work, the kindest people I’ve met are men, and I may be young (16) but one day I’m considering trying to work in a specifically men’s mental health field I want men to know how much they matter and how much they should be valued

I’m more of an egalitarian because I care about both, I mean I’m a girl with many struggles myself including body dysmorphia and being shamed, but men just haven’t been focused on enough. They go through SO FUCKING MUCH!!! Shamed for existing, It seems like literally no one cares about men. But there’s plenty of support for women(which is good) but it completely fucking backfires! Where is this fucking equal treatment which feminists claim to want😭✌️ we need more men’s organizations and shelters and groups. It also feels sometimes like I’m the only teen girl who cares

From the time I was a child I saw a difference in how I was treated versus my male classmates or even my own brother. Boys are ridiculed by educators and at least in my family, my father was much harder on my brother than he was on me or my sister. The older I got the more feminist influences were around me. I couldn't ask questions. They would spazz out and jump down my throat. Even when I had the evidence to support every single thing I said. As I started working, I saw more of the same thing. Women would use any excuse to be unproductive. It bothered me, but later when I witnessed male friends and family members get railroaded into crappy divorce settlements and unfair custody arrangements and support. I just realized that I could not be around these types of people. They talk out of both sides of their mouth. If I ask my husband a question, he will give me a truthful answer. He doesn't tell me I look great when I look awful. Women lie to other women all the time. Why?? I don't know if I will ever understand it. Thankfully, I have lots of friends who male & female alike share my opinions. I came here because I wanted to know exactly what people problems men are encountering in society. I figured they could teach me and I can pass that information on. Plus, I know men are feeling unrecognized, unseen, and unheard. If you all wanted me to leave, I would have left already. You all have made this a safe place not only for men, but for women who don't fit in the box that feminist have tried to keep us.

Simple. I have 2 sons and a husband. I love and value men just as much as I love and value women. I personally feel like both sides face different struggles so I support both, but I'd never want my sons to be treated unfairly just because they are men. Just today my oldest son was playing around with his gf on the balcony of their new apartment and she was squealing. A neighbor called the cops and said they were having a domestic altercation. They weren't, I was literally on FaceTime with him during and after when the cops showed up. They were excited about their new place. Cops ended up not doing anything because, surprise, he wasn't abusing her, but it could have gone a different way. Thankfully, the cops weren't stupid.

Anyway, I didn't treat my ex-husband poorly in our divorce or the years after because I value him as a father to our sons. Children need their fathers as much as they need their mothers. It's not hard to do what's right for your children if you truly want what's best for them... and I want a world where they can live happily.

Just posting here does not make anyone a men's advocate, even men.

There have indeed been several women who were quite active in men's advocacy, Karen S and the Honeybadgers come to mind. And there were others who accidentally became fellow travelers, Cassie Jaye comes to mind. She is not an MRA and does not care about men, but she did have the integrity to finish her documentary to expose the evil underbelly of the men's right's movement even when what she found was not what she expected. And now that that's done she has disappeared. I wish her the best.

So for the women just posting here, that's a positive step and I applaud it. But a little more would be helpful, I would hope that they stand do up for the men in their lives when possible.

But today there are confounding factors, like cancel culture. It has died down some, but it's not dead. As Cassie Jaye found out, cancel culture is not very effective against women, but men still face risks.

But still, I don't see any problem with standing up for what's right, or your rights.

So for the women posting here, you have my heartfelt thanx.

My father committed sui at 37, his death has deeply affected me. I don't want someone else's father to commit sui too. Mental health problems in men is treated like a joke when it's a very much real and harmful.

I don't like it when other innocent human beings are being presecuted because of their chromosomes.

I don't like injustice.
