Courts block tests so the state doesn't have to pay child support if paternity is not established.

Of course women who are not sure if the guy paying support is the actual babydaddy (or when they KNOW he is not) protest the test, and courts uphold that because of the above.

ANY other rationale given for the denial of a paternity test is a crock of shit.

Also, in the US at least, don't forget that not only does the state lighten its costs via taking people off its welfare rolls, it actually PROFITS when child support is ordered. Refer to Title IV-D of the Social Security Act.

child support has never been about the rights of the child, it's always been about the rights of the mother. it was always about punitive backdoor alimony.

if it was about the rights of the child it would have started out at 50/50 or the parent with higher income would retain primary income.

I'd be the first person in line to vote for a financial abortion bill, and I have 3 grown children. If women have the right to abortion without the fathers consent, men should have the choice of financial abortion without the woman's consent. The decision window would have the same stipulations as child abortions, no changing your mind in the 3rd trimester or later.

Imagine someone like me knocks up a woman and she pins the father on someone else, i have a gene that causes cancer. Its not just about knowing who the father is and isnt, genes are so important when they carry life defining changes like that. I got cancer when i was 18, my moms had cancer since she was in her 20’s, the cancer has killed my aunt, my grandfather, and even more of my extended family who i dont really know about except that they got cancer and died because of this gene. My sister has the gene but hasnt developed anything yet, and my older brother has the gene but hasnt developed anything yet. I would hate to bring a child in to this world and them have the gene but itd be even worse if i had a one night stand, got her pregnant, and nobody even knew or suspected the relation because someone else is said to be the father, the child would have no warning, no family with experience dealing with it, nothing. Aside from men getting pinned for children that arent theirs, willingly or not, knowing their genetic history is so important in my opinion

And when I studied western family laws, I noticed when the law is not equal for father, they cited the need to maintain family and social stability as their reason to prove the reasonableness of the law; when it’s not equal for mother, suddenly human rights are placed above all else and family stability becomes nothing and the unequal law most be amended （which has already been down.) It’s ludicrous.

I've said it before but there are only three entities that can be responsible for financially raising a child:

The state: The state will absolutely not pay for anything it's not forced to.
The mother: The mother is a woman and therefore must be absolved of as much personal responsibility as possible.
A man: Ideally this would be the actual father.

Since the State refuses to pay and it is abhorrent to make a woman pay that only leaves one option. The state will force this responsibility on the man That is most convenient. If the actual father is not known, they will make sure that one gets appointed.

I don’t like many conversations on this sub. But I agree here. I think paternity/maternity tests should be done on all newborns. It should be the law. It should be free.
