The Root of the Purple Pill

By far, the most neglected and forgotten post in the sphere is Deep Conversion by Rollo Tomassi. Not only is this post confusing to the Blue Pill idealists as they assume it’s the same as their own ideals, but also it is something easily overlooked by newcomers to the Red Pill as they are dealing with their own unplugging from the Matrix. Many recently unplugged guys think the only way a relationship can work is by some anxiety-filled mate guarding or finding some cultural context to check hypergamy. Even low-level MGTOWs are deeply discontent and cynical at the prospect of a women abandoning them through the optimization of hypergamy. And with that fear comes excessive assumptions, “Women can’t love, period.” “Watch out! Hypergamy can kick in at any moment.”

Just a simple perusal of the comments section under Deep Conversion displays the confusion as both these groups voice concern about the post. And this is precisely what gives rise to the Purple Pill. I would go so far as to say that either the neglect or confusion of Deep Conversion is the gateway to the Purple Pill for various reasons.

Purple Pill pundits are peddlers of Red Pill truths in an attempt to reach Blue Pill ideals. They want their ‘soul mate’ to fall in love with them through the means of Red Pill self-improvement, Game, etc. believing that once they have the women, she will then love them in the Blue Pill ideal, “for who they really are.” This belief is dangerous for many reasons but primarily because it holds to the Oneitis fallacy, and as many have pointed out, it is a dream, a platonic ideal, that is an illusion that is never achieved.

But is it not ever achieved? After all, many of the Purple Pill guys have settled down and married and are now happily with “The One” raising a family, etc. It’s as if they applied the tactics or tools of the Red Pill to their lives and recognized their own transformation to the point of success and can now see how completely the woman is deeply in love with them. With such a success before their eyes, it is clear that the Red Pill works, but also here is a woman totally in love with them and not looking to optimize hypergamy with another. Maybe the Red Pill is distorted with its understanding of hypergamy? To complicate matters further, this relationship grows and she encourages and supports him as she stands by his side. He struggles through various challenges and finds comfort and faithful support in her. It’s at this point that other Red Pill tenants are questioned. Maybe vulnerability really is strength? Surely, ‘Soul Mates in Love’ is possible; they’re living it—so he thinks.

However, what is really taking place with this line of thinking is an assumption that the Blue Pill ideals are not only true, but also are achieved through Red Pill tools. He has achieved a healthy relationship where he perceives certain Blue Pill ideals are realized (i.e. She loves him, like he loves her; she is “the One;” she loves him “just the way he is.”) but of course, he only achieved this with the tools of the Red Pill.

Therefore, how can he reconcile this? He reconciles these incongruences with a hybrid solution: The Purple Pill—A mixing of the ideals and tools together as he sees fit to make sense of his current experience. However, this is ultimately rooted in his misunderstanding of his own success.

First of all, he fails to account for how his embrace of the Red Pill ultimately led to his own transformation and success. His internalization of Game, his bodily transformation, his success in business, led the woman to optimize her own hypergamy---NOT to “fall in love with who he really is”. Instead, she fell in love with who he became through transformation. Now, in a state of love, what the Purple Pill guy is likely experiencing at this point in the relationship is the woman in Deep Conversion. She found in him her optimized hypergamy. As Rollo says,

For women, this Deep Conversion can only result from a man who so thoroughly satisfies her Hypergamous nature she’s willing to abandon her own sexual strategy. And, like the guy with ONEitis, she dedicates herself to the one guy she was able to (she thinks) lock down who was a better-than-deserved Hypergamous prospect. Women get very upset when this dedication is questioned (not unlike the ONEitis guy) because they’ve generally abandoned furthering their sexual strategy by investing their egos into a guy who satisfied their Hypergamous natures. To doubt that devotion is to doubt the wisdom of her investment – and that goes down to her evolved biology and psychology in that choice. I should note here that Alpha Widows are born from this conversion.

The Purple Pill guy will read this above and say, “See, that’s the same thing as saying the couple ‘each found their Soul Mate!’” Again, simply reading through the comments section of Deep Conversion shows just how many people assumed this. But it’s not the same thing.

Blue Pill ideals are rooted in their static nature. Nothing needs to change for them to work or be true. They appeal to the platonic, idealized desire of a man to never need to change himself in order to be loved or to keep the love of a woman. Mantras such as “Just be Yourself” or “Wait for ‘The One’” or “She will love you for you” all appeal to the debase, abdicating, sitting-on-your-laurels nature of man that never requires a man to perpetually embrace his Burden of Performance. The difference between a women having a Deep Conversion from that of a Blue Pill ideal of “She loves you for being yourself” is the latter always assumes and is rooted in the lie of a static nature of reality (e.g. Love never changes). But reality is always subject to change, and therefore, Blue Pill ideals die hard when faced with ever changing reality.

This is why Deep Conversion feels so much like “Oneitis” or “Soul Mate” in a Blue Pill paradigm. It is also one of the reasons why the Purple Pill is created in order to explain what it confuses as a Blue Pill ideal.

But as Rollo says: “And I would also argue that a man who commits himself to this woman [in Deep Conversion] must also feel some sense of his idealistic concept of love being validated by that woman who has devoted herself to him.”

Again, it is here we see the Purple Pill guy experiencing Deep Conversion from the woman and assuming it’s the same as a Blue Pill ideal.

This is also where so many recently unplugged, jaded types misunderstand hypergamy in a healthy relationship. A healthy 20-year monogamous relationship is never achieved through an anxiety-filled mate guarding. Mate guarding is really an inverted form of Orbiting through anxiety as opposed to Orbiting through her needs. Both are Beta Tells.

Hypergamy is ultimately kept in check in a healthy relationship by a man leading the woman to the point of Deep Conversion. When a woman is in Deep Conversion it should never be assumed the relationship has achieved success. That is a Blue Pill ideal lie that assumes a static nature of the relationship. Instead Deep Conversion is only a signpost to the Red Pill aware that he is doing well and should maintain course. However, when a relationship is at the point of Deep Conversion, rest assured that is the point Purple Pill men will describe it as “A trusting relationship,” “An ideal couple,” “A perfect relationship rooted in open communication.” etc. Whatever the descriptions of this relationship the Purple Pill want to give it, it is ultimately an attempt to describe something more fundamental: Deep Conversion.

But who cares if the Purple Pill misconstrues this as a Blue Pill ideal? It’s working for him, right? Can’t it work for others too?

No. And No. Again, the problem with Blue Pill ideals is that they are ultimately rooted in a lack of change. Any man who holds to them will eventually assume a static state of the relationship and eventually lose it. Placing Blue Pill ideals in the relationship will remove (either consciously or subconsciously) the Burden of Performance or the need for maintaining Frame, from the relationship at which point hypergamy will no longer be optimized and Deep Conversion is lost. And when the relationship is jeopardized the Blue Pill ideals will crash.

As Rollo says, However, this Deep Conversion state is not an impossibility and it is not impossible to sustain it in a Red Pill aware paradigm. In fact, I’ll say that Red Pill awareness and internalized Game is really the only way to sustain it in an era of Open Hypergamy where Blue Pill conditioning of men is the norm, and women’s expectations of men are ridiculously low, but standards are ridiculously exaggerated.

The more the Deep Conversion concept is minimized or ignored, the more people will confuse success in a relationship as the static achievement of a Blue Pill ideal. Deep Conversion is the antidote to recently unplugged cynicism and MGTOW rage. Yet, Deep Conversion is not a Blue Pill ideal. It is better, because it refuses to allow a man to drift into becoming what he hates, and it binds a woman to a competent man in a world of perpetual change.
