Last night my wife and I had a little disagreement. Long story short, she didn't get her way and was a little pouty afterward. I paid it no attention. Just did my own thing for a few hours after that. She goes to take a shower and i hop in with her a few minutes after. No biggie. We go to switch positions so i can be under the shower head. During the switch she elbows me in the stomach, so i gave her a little bump with my hip on her butt. I guess i bumped her harder than i thought because she complained about it a little. So i started joking around. I said "see, your supposed to try to get me back. You wouldn't make it in prison" She then says , with what seemed like a serious face, "Yes I would, i'd probably do better than you" I didn't say anything after that. Just gave her a smirk. But i couldn't help but take that comment as a shot at my masculinity.

Later, I pressed her about it. I couldn't help it. I just told her that that comment wasn't cool. She starts laughing and says "omg, I was joking!" I just continued to read my book in bed until i fell asleep.

This morning she calls me on the phone on my way to work to tell me about somethings about her car. I noticed a few times when i was talking she'd try to talk over me by raising her voice. Same as last night, didn't really respond to that or mention it.

I feel like i lost some ground with her here. She doesn't usually do this. I know women will often resort to personal attacks during disagreements but I'm wondering is there levels to this shit. I'm also under the impression that when angered, their personal attacks reveal their true feelings toward the person. Like was there some sort of truth to her comment about her handling prison better than me? Not actual truth but her FEELING like she'd fare better. Like I'm a pussy or something? Also, the laughing. I was thinking that was to help herself feel better about making a comment that was "mean" to her but true?

I know I broke frame by complaining about the prison comment. I can usually bob and weave her verbal shit test but that comment made me questions some things. Or maybe I'm over thinking. Are all shit test created equal?
