Good outcome independence. You took a risk, got nowhere and did not miss a beat.
You did not DEER your marital status, you gave her some cocky AM by suggesting you go out for drinks as friends.

No need to play it differently. The goal isn't to always achieve a number. It's simply to polarize the girl one way or the other. And you did.
[–]saint_chalet 6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I wouldn't have done anything differently, given her preference. You didn't plead with her, you moved on. That, in and of itself, is a win. You proved abundance to yourself

I like daybang. old man conversation is a great tool. Women build rapport and comfort through words. Don't let that dinner date fool you, most of the time, she has to talk herself into it.
Only difference is I would have her run her mouth.
Beyond that, honest, OI, needs more pleasurable denyability. If she would want a married guy or not, she still needs to believe she isn't a home wrecker, and I don't know if you gave her a way to hamster it.

You've nailed it with your last sentence.
Having thought about this, perhaps I should have continued to agree verbally "yes this is really bad etc" whilst still physically passing the phone to her. Because there is no doubt she was horny and into me.
The problem is saying you're married suddenly makes you a fucking creep in many many girls' eyes, especially if they're single. And I have kids. Why would a married man with kids be randomly approaching women in a store? Unless you start saying that you're separating or something I don't see how it wouldn't come across as sleazy and creepy?
Having said that I did this with a 20yr old in London recently and saw her do a double-take when she saw the ring after 10 mins of chatting, but she never brought it up in over 2 hrs of conversation until she was in my hotel room 'charging her phone'. She hamstered by simply ignoring and not asking the question.

Why would a married man with kids be randomly approaching women in a store?
Well, because he finds them attractive. That is enough. Marriage status does not change that.
[–]trp_ocd10 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I disagree with my brethren you making a good move by ditching.
Your opportunity to have her qualify herself is when she said she wasn't like "that".
Young lady, you're not like "what"? And she would say she wouldnt date married men, it's not a date, just a drink, yadda yadda...
If she says she doesn't want to fuck you, she has already given thought to fucking you. She was into you, ring and all, because she continued to fish the hook with compliments.
Improve yourself by seeing opportunities to have her qualify her statement to you, especially when it's turning sexual... because she already imagined it.
I did do exactly what you suggested (just didn't write it down). She was into me but I couldn't give her plausible deniability - I'm not sure any even exists for that kind of scenario...?
[–]trp_ocd11 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Well let's drill down. When she said she wasn't like "that"- this is your opportunity to make her qualify herself to you. Make her define "that" and then agree and amplify.
Oh, I am NOT like "that" either! Or something along those lines, depending on your rapport so far.
If she is giving you ASD, it means she already pictured herself with you. The plausible deniability is that neither her nor you are like "that", and you aren't easy nor cheap.
It just looked like everyone is saying the "give up and walk away" scenario you painted was ideal, showing abundance, whereas I disagree. It was a missed opportunity as the chick literally told you she already pictured herself fucking you, too good looking. Next time, Killah!

"I want a relationship too. What kind of guy do you think I am?"
Something along those lines to keep her engaged. Just keep her talking. Also, nothing wrong with flirting and not getting a number. If you don't want to cheat, abundance mentality can be achieved just by conversing.

I wouldn't be trying to fuck other women if I was married, but that's just me.

Assuming good faith here. Take a few days, learn what catch and release means, and check out the sidebar material, so you can gain a better insight into what OP is doing.
I'm sure then you'll be back with a much better attitude.
[–]Mecha752 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Its not about that. Its about developing an abundance mentality as you prove to yourself that you can move on quite easily if you had to. This is why the OPs title is Catch & Release. He could have gone for a drink and fucked her, or just walked out to his car and deleted the number.
[–]downvotesanimals0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Very good point.
[–]redxanaxe2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Get that preachy bullshit back to /relationships where it belongs.
Add something of value or stfu. This isn't a place for you to spill your Bp guilt.
Op is doing what he's doing. Not what you envision your self doing? Nobody gives a fuck.

Wooow... you're really tough. Can we be friends?
Firstly, you must've noticed the disclaimer in my post. I thought that might've dissuaded the teenagers here on MRP but apparently I was mistaken. OP asked a question and I gave an answer. One with decades of experience supporting it.
Now I don't know about you, but having been through a few bouts of infidelity and seen what kind of position a married man can end up in as a result of that shitstorm, my sincere advice to OP would be to avoid that like the plague.
You may have a different opinion. I'd love to hear it. And I encourage you to add some value to the conversation. Instead of your ad-homenim attacks which, frankly, can fuck right off.
Edit: Oh, and learn how to use a question mark.
I actually thank you for your advice because I have friends who have gone through a similar 'shitstorm' and the west is the thought of another man bringing up my kids - that is unbearable and what generally stops me doing this every day. In addition to this I live in a small town and see my wife's friends out and about - it only takes one to see me/overhear me and that's game over.
I'm constantly wrestling between my desire to be an exemplary father and my desire to fuck other women before I'm too old and stop getting the opportunity. I would add that I have NEVER experienced the single life, we were together from teens.
[–]sh0ckley0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I know guys in their 70's with enough game to land new younger women. You could get your chance if you need it.
Right now I would focus on the wife for the reasons stated. But RP is amoral. Do what you want. I've decided that spinning plates is not the life that I want right now.
[–]aurelius_shrugs -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
His wife entertains options guaranteed.
[–]screechhaterRed Beret-1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Were you asked ? No. Shut the Fuck up
[–]downvotesanimals5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I was asked. What would you call the last sentence of the post?
Look, man. I'm not preaching morals to you. I'm warning you that fucking chicks while married is one of the best ways there is to get divorce raped.
[–]All_Ads_Deceive-2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
His wife is trying to fuck the hot single dad at his children's school. He needs to prove he's not a cuck by getting turned down by random girls
Ha. That explains it doesn't it...
[–]Nyquil-Junkie-1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
He could at least take his ring off when he's fishing.
[–]The_LitzRed Beret4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Nope. That is misrepresenting yourself as single, uber beta for not owning your shit and weak frame.
[–]Nyquil-Junkie2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
And misrepresenting yourself as actually serious about the pickup and doing it presenting yourself as a married man isn't weak shit and creepy? This is why you guys develop problems in your marriages.
[–]stonepimpletilists 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
He flat out said drinks as friends. Why assume anything more than exactly what he says?
Girls and boys can't be around liquor without an escort?
[–]saint_chalet 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That's a stupid idea. He's not lying. He's being honest and hopefully, if his wife found out, he'd be honest with her as well.
Lying is childish
[–]Nyquil-Junkie-4 points-3 points-2 points 9 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
Sometimes these topics make my skin crawl.
[–]screechhaterRed Beret1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Listen up bitch. You need to deal with the fact you have to be on your game 24/7. Sorry man this is about you and abundance
[–]Nyquil-Junkie-5 points-4 points-3 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
But I have no need for game or abundance.
[–]FireTempered -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

[–]PersaeusRed Beret1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I already have a stable LTR with a unicorn. No need to rock the boat when the cruise is going along perfectly well.
[–]stonepimpletilists 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Rule 0, you're here to discuss strategy, not soapbox your BP ideals.
also, no unicorns, pics or it didn't happen.

Label this ? with a warning for the noobs.
Let them eat paint
[–]saint_chalet 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
keep telling yourself that your Unicorn isn't grazing in other fields...or, if not grazing, at least wondering if the grass tastes better over there.
or keep lying to yourself. and keep helping out on here by denouncing what some guys are doing to stay sane.
