Body hair care: thoughts on arm hair?

If I could get laser hair removal from the nose down, that would be an absolute dream because I have super dark and super thick hair. Unfortunately, my hair also grows really fast and it's everywhere, so I can barely go a few days without shaving my legs. Over the years, I've kinda come to terms with my arm hair and I really only shave my calves, pits, mustache, lady parts, and call it a day.

I mean I would say it's kind of personal preference. My arm hair is blonde and can't be seen unless you're a few inches away from my arms, so I don't really care to get rid of it. It would be kind of useless for me. But for women with naturally very dark arm hair, maybe they don't like it and think they look better without it.

Simply having the hair doesn't make you more or less feminine though. That hair is biologically meant to be there for a specific purpose, a purpose which you may or may not now find irrelevant depending on your lifestyle.

Idk if I’m just a weirdo, but the main reason I remove body hair is because I love feeling my smooth skin under the blankets. I don’t get the same feeling when my arms are covered in thick black hair.

Applying body products feels a lot better on hair-free skin too. I’ve recently been wearing the Fenty Body Lava, a shimmering lotion. It looked horrendous on my hairy arms but after waxing, it made my skin glow.

I do feel more feminine as a result of it & it boosts my confidence.

Don’t worry about what others think. Do what makes you feel good.

This stuff is all cultural. I have better things to do than waste time dealing with my arm hair - namely, raising our kids and keeping the house. At some point, you hit the 80-20 rule. 80% of results come from 20% of the work. Arm hair for me seems like an inefficient use of resources.

Unless your arm hair is heavy (fur pelt?) or noticeable (light skin, dark hair) it isn't an issue. Most people don't notice it or care. People who do notice it, often notice shaved arms unfavorably because it's uncommon and weird. Not unfeminine, just... weird.

That said, some people just like it. My wife and I have a preference for hairless. She doesn't get why more people don't do it. I do. It's all about fitting in.

So in summary, If you don't like it, remove it. No one cares, and few will notice. Some will look at you oddly. It won't make much difference. If your Captain likes it, good for you. It isn't a thing.

My arm hair is rather fair but can get REALLY long so I just shave it every couple of months. That is enough to keep it at a better length. I've thought about using a trimmer also but haven't yet. I could shave everyday but I actually prefer the feeling of having hair.

You dont have to shave it but i would wax this part of my body cause.the regrowth just looks weird with shaving and way more noticeable than anything else. i find smooth arms more feminine but it must be because i have hairy arms. seems like noone really cares lol

Male and female mammals have hair. You're a mammal.

Lack of hair is not a sign of femininity. that's cultural bias / learned behavior.

I think it's weird people shave their body hair. Grooming is one thing. Complete removal is odd.

Unless there's some condition you suffer from where your entire body is massively covered in hair, or it harms your health in some way, I'd leave it as is.

Jokes are jokes, but if your friend was seriously criticizing you, fuck them, they're assholes.

I shave my legs and underarms and sometimes bikini area, but actual arm hair??? I would understand, I guess, if the hair was REALLY dark and thick, but otherwise it doesn’t seem necessary and should just be up to your personal preference. Ask yourself, is there anything innately un-feminine or gross about hair? I don’t think so. As long as you’re doing whatever you need to keep clean and polished, I’d say you’re doing fine.

I sometimes wax my arm hair, particularly at the beginning of spring, when I begin to wear short sleeves but the sun hasn't had time to lighten the hair. Nobody ever notice when I do this (even my SO, who sometimes asks two weeks later "why do your arms feel unusual?").

Except if your are very hairy, I think it's safe to say it's not a deal-breaker if you don't remove these. But if you like it, do it! It can be part of self care, and self confidence.

It's up to you to know whether it's more annoying to remove them, or more gratifying to get what are to you extra points of femininity.

Feminine fashion has a lot to do with the current social standards. So, given that the majority of feminine and fashionable women don't remove their arm hair, I don't think it's unfeminine not to remove your arm hair.

It's not feasible for me to have 0 body hair 24/7, so I just make sure my legs, torso, and underarms are generally smooth for special events. If it's the summertime, I'll put aside more time for hair removal.

If it you like having smooth arms and it's not a hassle to remove your arm hair, then go for it! If you're comfortable with having arm hair and don't feel like removing it, then don't! Arm hair doesn't have the same stigma that underarm hair does, so I don't think it's really a make-or-break issue.

I shave my arms, I don't like my dark hair. Got bullied for it as a kid, so I just feel really not okay with hair on my arms. BUT if you do - it's going to be a daily thing and once you decide too, it's a long time before you can revert back.

I have blonde hair, and my bf has told me he likes my arm hair and doesn’t want stubble on my arms. I do trim it sometimes tho as to not have long arm hairs hahahah

I don't remove any of my vellus hair (hair that is blonde and barely visible, hair that is present before puberty).

If your arm hair is terminal (dark, thick and lengthy), I would recommend shaving.

I remember i was never conscious of my arm hair till college when a guy told me "its sad that you have so much arm hair". I just shrug it off and didnt do anything but it always stayed with me. Now, all i do is shave twice a year max when i remember to look at my arms and think they are too long lol. Why be annoyed by something that is part of me and if you dont like it then look away?

If you choose to have hairless arms, be sure to wax, not shave. Overtime the hair follicles will get thinner and thinner with waxing because your hair is actually being pulled from the root. If you shave, once it grows out, the hairs will come out all pokey.

My hair is very pale but I get it waxed anyway. I don’t know how men feel about it, but I saw a pretty girl at work the other day and was talking to her and all of a sudden I noticed her dark hairy arms and I immediately thought “eww”. Then I felt bad for thinking that, but I wonder if men feel the same xo

Yep, 100% get rid of forearm hair. I’ve had my entire body lasered and I’ve never looked back since. Prior to laser I shaved my forearms, which worked great tbh since it took months for it to actually grow back.

I worry that because my hair grows so fast I’d have a 5 o’clock on my arms 😂 so I’d rather put up with soft dirty block hair. I don’t think arm hair is too serious to worry about but that depends on your genes and preferences.
