I feel like a man would know unless he's a virgin himself and that's unusual these days. Also like other people said it seems like a bad way for a girl to start a relationship, lying about her virginity to the man she expects to trust her.

No, a man cannot tell whether or not his partner is a virgin. There are some telltale signs — an intact hymen, lack of experience — but many virgins don’t have intact hymens and many people are naturals at sex.

So, yes a woman could fake it. But faking it is highly inadvisable.

Anatomy lesson time. Hymens come in all shapes and sizes, and some women are born without one. Many women can tear theirs with things like sports or tampons. An "intact" hymen is not an indication of virginity. Bleeding after sex is not an indication of virginity. The hymen can be torn during sex, though it can also just be stretched. Tearing is not necessary, and can be avoided for some women with proper foreplay and lubrication. Women can also experience tearing and bleeding more than once.

Vaginal "tightness" is not an indication of virginity. The pelvic floor muscular system is very complicated, and very individual. Some women really don't experience much pain or discomfort their first time, some continue to have pain or discomfort even with regular sex. Some women have naturally hypotonic pelvic floors, and others canbe hypertonic. On top of varying levels of pain sensitivity. When a woman is aroused properly she experiences vaginal tenting, where the walls loosen and expand, and the cervix moves up and out of the way for sex.

So no, there is no way for someone to know definitively whether their partner has had sex before, except for maybe the obvious situation of clearly being very experienced, or something like that. But anatomically and sensation wise, no. Why on earth someone would try to lie about that, I don't know, and I don't recommend it.

I'd only had one partner at 28... and that was six years prior. I could've faked it, judging by my husband stopping because it was so... snug? So, I'm going to go with yes, just to answer your question... but it's a really bad idea to lie about this... like phenomenally bad.

There are surgeries that can help one fake a hymen, also kits with something to insert to fake a hymen and bleeding from China. Apparently, those can be ordered online and they are extremely popular in the primitive Middle East. However, why would you want to be with someone who you have to lie to and fake something like that with? That isn't a healthy relationship and it will end when they find out that you lied. If you lie about that, what else are you lying about? You should also know that not everyone bleeds so one could still be a virgin or pretend to be one without any bleeding because not everyone is born with a hymen or some tear from sports, accidents, tampons, etc but again it isn't advisable to lie.
