Oh for pity's sake. When did common sense fly out the window. There is a big difference between respecting your man and letting him lead and sitting by and watching him fuck up with out saying a word. Any man worth his salt will appreciate when his woman points out when his actions might be costly and detrimental if it is presented in a respectful manner.

I only made it through half of your video. Your voice is so soothing, it was counteracting my coffee! So my comment may address things you covered but I missed.

I enjoyed that you challenged us not to say "I deserve better". Since I changed my mindset to "I can not believe my good fortune", life has changed so much. When you choose a spouse, you are choosing to celebrate this person and raise them up. When both parties do this, it creates amazing things.

Vetting is so so so important here: you can't turn a deckhand into a captain just by obeying him. You have to seek a man of good and worthy character. That's how you avoid becoming a door mat. With a good man, you're not swallowing your desires on a regular basis. Instead, he's trying his best to take care of you, and you aren't hurting him by nitpicking where he falls short.

Storytime on this: We bought a new car (to be my daily driver). He tells me a new car's paint is not fully "cured" for several months and I should be careful about scratches and stuff. OK - got it.

Two months after purchase we went on a road trip. Severe winter storm driving through Pennsylvania. They don't use road salt in PA, they use sand. So we are on the two-lane highway - heavy snow - up ahead is the slow-moving sand-spreader truck. DH is driving and decides we must pass it at maximum speed. I grit my teeth with a white-knuckle grip as he blasts past the truck. I hear the sand pelting my brand new car (with it's not-fully-cured-paint). I suffer in silence because almost all of our epic battles have occurred while driving and a blizzard in the middle of PA is no place to trigger a new one.

Fast forward 6 months. He is applying wax to my car - how nice! He asks me how the hood got all chipped. I remind him about the sand truck.

He is very sorry about the damage. We are both sad about it when I tell him I couldn't say anything about it when it was happening. I let him win at the expense of my car's paint job. He asked me to order the touch up paint. Yes, I let him win, but I could not respect him because he was wrong (I suffered in silence - I was not respecting his decision).

Now he disrespects and doubts himself because he realizes that I can't (won't) stop him when he is making a mistake. And he disrespects me for the same reason.
