I was looking at the stats about crime in the West and the 70s were really a wild era: the US registered a rapid surge in murders and violent crime, Europe was plagued by various forms of political terrorism, the Troubles in Ulster recorded more than 3000 deaths, the ETA killed almost one thousand people, Italy and Germany were also theaters of political turmoil.

The reasons for all that are different and varied but if you ask me there's one you don't happen to read in history books: the sexual revolution of the 60s created what we know as the free sexual market place with women following their natural hypergamous instincts and clustering around a small percentage of the most attractive males leaving the majority of the other with much less opportunities. Imagine being surrounded by young, hippie chicks with their flowing hair and hot pants only to see them gravitating towards 1970s Chads (who I imagine to look like Wooderson from Dazed And Confused). It's enough to foment that kind of beta rage that is conducive to violence, including political violence.

Before the sexual revolution, young males used to marry earlier and sexual promiscuity and sex outside marriage were generally discouraged. Sexual liberation disclosed lots of opportunities for the elite of alphas while betas were left behind with crime and political violence as outlets for their frustration.
