When I first heard about Bumble I was very excited. Awesome! Finally an app where every interaction isn't immediately hostile because all my matches won't have just received a dozen dick picks before reading my message. But wait, why isn't any one I know, male or female, getting any dates off of it? Why does every profile contain either a Snapchat link or IG? One of my female friends let me in on the secret: She doesn't want to approach the guy first. She wants to pull from the pool Bumble provides, but wants the guy to contact her first through her IG or Snapchat. Has anyone else observed this? The point of apps like Bumble is to put female users at ease, knowing they get to make the first move, but maybe women don't want that. This is entirely anecdotal, but I think the habits are interesting to discuss. Thoughts?
