Question to feminists: do you have any brother?

I'm a feminist. Not only do I have 2 younger brothers but I even happen to be a man myself.

I am very feminist and have two older brothers. I am very close to one of my older brothers who is very feminist critical, too.

My biological mother displays a lot of AWALT/negative feminine traits, while my father displays a lot of negative masculine traits. It doesn't surprise me that either of us ending up believing what we do.

Lol. I have a dad and two older brothers. They were always extremely mean, they beat me up, made fun of me to make me cry and to laugh at watching me cry, they controlled the computers and everything else in the house. They were rude to my mom, to me, to their girlfriends, but somehow it's considered cute when guys are rude.

My mom has always been the main breadwinner. She made/makes twice what my dad makes. Now my brothers are both married to women who make twice what they make.

I suspect that not having male siblings makes you kind of oblivious to the male experience [...] and therefore prone to see them as a privileged class

I have seen male privilege because I have seen the male experience first hand.

I have seen my mom do most of the child-rearing and housework despite her working longer hours and making more money than my dad.
I have seen my dad spend his free time on hobbies like being on the computer or watching TV while my mom spent her free time getting the house running.
I have seen my brothers be considered smarter and good at math and science all my life, and as an adult I saw their report cards and realized they had about 85% while I had 100%.
I have seen my brothers be outwardly rude to everybody and bully me all my life and get away with it because "boys be boys aww".
I have seen my brothers get computers all our youth while I got my first computer at 20 because "they played computer games" and "I would have no use for a computer".
I have seen my family take no interest in my athletic activities even though I was in two varsity teams and my brothers were in none.
I have seen my father and brothers get more praise for lesser accomplishments all my life.

And guess what, despite all of this, I like my dad and my brothers more than my mom because they were "the fun ones" and I "hated" my mom for being dumb and boring even though she is a surgeon who worked 12h a day and ran the house and knew more about my life than my father ever did. My dad was never even sure what grade I was in, how old I was or what sports I played. A man in my mom's position would have been praised.

Nice try meninist, but my brothers never had any struggles. They were always brimming with confidence and arrogance and got away with everything.

Technically, no.

In a "you choose your family" way, yes. My parents' lifelong best friends (who set them up on a blind date back in HS) have a son 6 months older than me. There are pictures of him as an infant, laying on my mom's pregnant belly; the first picture ever taken of me is the two of us together.

He's my lifelong best friend, and was the Man of Honor in our wedding (my husband had a Best Woman, but that's a different story). We are closer than many brothers and sisters I know IRL, and all the standard sibling stuff applies to us - I literally can't find him attractive (even though all of my female friends think he's hot), we pick on each other, bicker, etc.

I’m not an angry charicature of a feminist that some clickbait “feminist” journalists portray (none of whom I’ve heard of before from your list so I don’t know if they’re angry or not but I know the stereotype), but I do consider myself to be a true feminist. I have a younger brother, yes. He’s also a feminist and we talk a lot about our thoughts and philosophies.

I don’t think that the “main points of contemporary feminism” are really that crazy, but then again I have no idea what that means to you personally.

Anyways no I don’t have a brother, but I do have a (divorced) dad, male friends, and other male relatives. I’m sympathetic to the issues they face as men, but that doesn’t mean I’m willing to throw all women everywhere under the bus even if (and that’s a big IF) doing so would benefit them. I maintain the label of feminist because of the historical connotations that it has and because I believe globally women’s issues require more organized attention. Not because I care about women and women alone, especially not in the West.

I used to be really into feminism(I still am but in a different sense) and I grew up with a brother I loved and spent a lot of time with. I agree with a main points of contemporary liberal feminism and most of the main points of the small amount of relevant “radical” feminists. I just disagree with using these points as justifications for certain actions. If I had time I would go more into detail about it right now.

Am a feminist, but have nfc what 'contemporary' feminist means, since there's about 100 different flavours out there.

I have two younger brothers, one who is only a year and a half younger than I am. And for what it's worth, several male cousins, two of which are around my age and I spent a lot of time around as a kid. Most of my friends are dudes. I sympathise with a lot of the pressures that men undergo societally, but I prefer the men's lib movement to something like TRP.

I think you should change your title to ask for female feminists instead of just feminists. Male feminists while not having any male siblings would sympathetic and understand first hand the male experience.

I'm not in complete agreement with the current popular flavor of feminism but I consider myself a feminist to some extent. I do have a brother. I value his life more than my own and if something happened to him I don't know if I could ever get over it. I also have a father I love with all my heart and every feminist has a father so should have some empathy for men. If fathers are absent, abusive, or terrible parents I would not expect the same result and it might contribute to a negative view of men. I love my husband too even though our marriage is in a definite rough patch.

I actually thought about the men in my life I love so much when metoo exploded. I know there are many legitimate cases and most of the men targeted in the media deserved it but some did not. There were false or exaggerated allegations. Its almost asking to be attacked when one states that there are women who lie and use false accusations for revenge or their own benefit. Yes, there are real victims and most women won't lie. I also know many incidents are never reported out of fear, shame, or pressure from some important aspect of a woman's life. That doesn't change the fact that innocent men have been hurt and have even been imprisoned. I can't forget that nor do I want to.

I was really attacked for making such statements in the NYT comments when metoo was really ramping up. Anyone who tried to say that there was a possibility of a false accusation was immediately insulted and berated by a raging mob. That is not acceptable and I will not back down from the position that men must be presumed innocent in such situations until an investigation occurs, just like any other crime. I don't want feminism to be 'anti-man' or try to make life harder for men. Women being equal should come from positive changes for women, not negative changes concerning men.
