Nerd spaces are crawling with SJW policers everywhere, probably because of differential of social status between some loser nerd and any women. And thirstiness,I suppose.

TBH, I only come across it online.

Here, or (increasingly rarely) on political forums. Rarely now, because I think they've retreated to their safe spaces as part of the general retreating of almost everyone on the internet into little echo chambers over the past 10 years.

Although I do occasional read Huff Post when something interesting is happening in US politics I don't really see much feminism of the nutty kind there either, but then again maybe I'm not clicking on the obviously crazy links.

In the UK.... See hardly any crazy feminism at all... although I do see a female viewpoint dominated media/society in the same way I see that in the US media.

Speaking only for myself. I live in a liberal enclave and have mostly liberal friends. I'm not RP and don't really care about how feminism affects dating or men's rights. However, I'd like to think of myself as a principled civil libertarian, and I follow the news about free speech pretty closely especially on college campuses. The subject of feminism inevitably comes up and it's hard for me to discuss with my liberal friends about it.

Because feminists, along with SJW's in general (which is more the group I'm going to talk about, because I see the types of people you are talking about as part of a larger group), have learned how to gain power within their respective circles through the use of shame. They regularly shame and scare university administrations into bending to their will, and the post-modernist ideology is more widespread than some realize. They appear - as others said here - in a lot of nerdy spaces like gaming and atheist conventions, policing people and basically shitting over everything.

The issue is that you can point to the epicenter and say "look, they don't matter, its just this tiny minority of crazy college kids" but that doesn't factor in the ripple effect. These types do get interviews on national television, they do get a lot of support online, from lots of people. It is not a small thing.

I'd argue, for example, that the Women's march that took place some time ago was a rather mainstream event, even with one organizer being Sharia-supporting Linda Sarsour, and one of the invited speakers being convicted murderer Donna Hylton. The fact that the people in charge of this event didn't really see issues with this tells us that this "mentally ill 'feminism'" has a real world effect on our lives. They are shifting people's ideologies. Oh, and lets not forget NOW consistently opposing alimony reform. (Also, its funny, the female family law attorney quoted in that article is biased towards the feminists desire, as in her quote she misrepresented the contents of the bill).

I am actually more receptive to feminist arguments than most, although I disagree with a lot of things third wave feminists say. But feminism has, and has had, absolutely no direct impact on my life whatsoever.

Once you read some of the things written by more trad con folks or reds about feminism, how its used and examples thereof, its really really challenging to unsee it in every day things.

Small example is the propensity of sit coms or what ever to have the stupid or fat and stupid husband with the otherwise better wife. Its normal. More than half the show is about how the guy is an idiot.

But a show about a dumb girl? No way. Or simple things like "Valentines day gifts " mostly being for the woman. Sure, ok thats fine. But don't have that and still be talking about how women are oppressed or what ever.

Back in college you really couldn't avoid it

Also back then I didn't really have a solid idea of who I was, I was just sort of floating around and soaking up all these influences, some of that process involved listening to feminists and deciding if what they were saying made sense to me

No idea why anybody would really care about it beyond then. I do meet the occasional girl who tries to shame me into declaring myself a feminist of something, I try to steer clear of that shit but it's out there

EDIT: it is pretty relevant to our discussions here. I can see why it comes up on PPD. Good source of controversy at least

You have to be able to make connections between modalities of thought and its end game. If you only view the things self labeled as feminism as opposed to seeing feminism as just one of many overt examples of the female imperative; then it won't make sense to you

I don't see what's mentally ill about general second wave feminism. The third wave feminism is the crazy shit you're likely thinking of, and I don't see this much unless I actively hate read it on certain subs.

The women I know who identify as feminists do not act out of line or demand anything egregious, from my perspective.
