Virtually every other sentence from RP or any of its other affiliated subs has the word DOMINANCE in it. Red Pill guys fantasize about wielding Power.

Blue Pill folks like me kind of chuckle to ourselves as we listen to RP guys spin the importance of this one element of traditional masculinity. It is seen as the silver bullet fix-all that RP uses in nearly every situation, and as a result I feel like it is way over-emphasized. Additionally, the negative aspects of Dominance never seem to be discussed or even acknowledged by RP.

This is a real disservice to the men who come to RP specifically in earnest to try to better themselves. For guys who don't come into this confidence organically and are trying to learn about it from the internet it is kind of important to talk about what happens when you try to employ Dominance and fuck it up or slide over into the petty fights for Authority that make you sound more like Cartman than John Galt.

The term Domineering came up in a thread a few days ago and I feel like it is a pretty good counter-balance to the Dominance ideal and highlights the potential dark side if you are employing it incorrectly.

Here are a couple of working definitions to get us started.

Dominance

Animal Behavior. high status in a social group, usually acquired as the result of aggression, that involves the tendency to take priority in access to limited resources, as food, mates, or space.

Domineering

  1. inclined to rule arbitrarily or despotically; overbearing; tyrannical:

For men who are feeling powerless, the idea of becoming a Dominant Alpha Male is a pretty potent fantasy. Just like guys who cannot get sex, the idea of sex becomes all encompassing, the only thing they can think about. I call this the Cameron Frye effect. And just like any potent fantasy, when you get a chance to try it, you typically go all in.

This can really go sideways for a lot of guys.

This is what BP sees when we laugh and shake our collective heads as RP endlessly faps to DOMINANCE. For men who have it, it is as a result of many other factors in their lives coming into alignment and making other people listen when they talk and follow their lead and defer to their judgement. It is not foremost in their minds, it is just a part of who they are; it is subconscious. But for men who are trying to manufacture Dominance in order to get laid... they are typically trying to build something on a weak foundation, often to tragi-comic results.

We have all seen examples of this before, it's not pretty.

So I ask you all, what (if anything) is the difference between Dominance and Domineering? Is it even important to point out in all of our many discussions where it pops up? Why or why not?
