I think a major problem in debating here is the difference in how TRP and TBP view what exactly casual sex is or constitutes. BP likes to exclaim very few people have casual sex, but TRP seems to thinks its quite a large population.

Hence, I think it's best to clarify what exactly we think it is, and what it's not. For help, I will give 4 scenarios, and you can classify if you think one is casual sex and not, and why.

  1. A man and a woman meet at a nightclub. They hit it off, get dancing, and go back to the guy's place, and have sex. However, they met again for several outings, such as dinner, a movie, and a hike in the park, and sparingly have sex after those outings.

  2. A man asks out a woman he meets at his yoga class for drinks. They go to a bar together, have a great time, and go back to his place. They make out, and she gives him a BJ, yet they don't have full on sex. They might up the next day however and have sex at her place. They never discuss monogamy or being a boyfriend or girlfriend, yet continue to see each other.

  3. A man first becomes a woman's friend, and spends time with her in a friendly way. After he gets to know her personally, he asks her for dinner to a restaurant she really likes. She accepts, and they have a wonderful time. They only make out on the first date, and it takes until the third or fourth date until they have sex. No monogamy or conditions are discussed.

  4. Similar to scenario 4, yet the man and woman only have sex once they clarify and establish they are exclusive, and not seeing anyone else for sex.
