There are a few criteria to identifying a truly doomed White Knight.

First, there's the sexism. (Yep, that's right, coming from an RPer). White Knights believe that women need defending, and thus that women cannot defend themselves. Implicitly, they view women as gentle and fragile creatures that they need to protect.

Another component is the thirst. White Knights are sad, thirsty creatures that struggle to experience women or get laid. Even an encounter with a woman is a rarity. This scarcity mentality leads the White Knight to leverage the conflict into a chance to get his dick wet.

The final criterion is cowardice. White Knights are afraid to go against the tide of the media and society because, mentally, they are small, weak, and manipulated. Regardless of whether they are capable of thinking for themselves, they suppress all internal opinion and conform. (If you're red pill, I recommend you read this.)

I think you described them pretty well. Mindlessly defends women, often not even letting them defend themselves. And yeah, it's fairly common for reds and their ilk to use it as a shaming tactic whenever someone disagrees with woman bashing. Recently I saw someone use it on here. I said something and someone made a liberal and nasty interpretation of it. A third guy butted in and argued against his post. Claims of being a white knight followed.

if a woman attacks you and you deck her, white knights will kick your ass. Doesn't matter if they saw her attack you. This is a big problem and raises entitlement and frequency of shitty behaviors. Whiny feminists pose little threat by themselves but the white knights make them a problem.

As far as drowning out genuine discussion goes, "YOU FUCKING WHITE MALE"

What's interesting about the whole white knight thing is that old school tradcon conservatives probably do the most of it (gotta defend the weaker sex and all mlady) yet feminists want nothing more than to tear them down.

I don't see how they could be "victims" since they are proactively choosing to speak out. If people who were silent were being called white knights then maybe they would be "victims" but that's not how the term is used, even when it's being used improperly.

Are they annoyances blown out of proportion? That is what an individual white knight might seem like, you might pity him more than feel like he is any kind of threat. But on a society-wide scale I think the behavior leads to real harm because it lets people like Anita Sarkeesian get away with far more than they should be able to. No one really would give a shit about her if she were male. There's a reason McIntosh writes the scripts but lets her be the face in the videos.

A white knight holds the belief that women either need or require the protection or rescue of a man (specifically the white knight), but that women are morally superior to men in that women are naturally incapable of the vices and depravities of men. When a woman indulges in any of those vices or depravities, it's not her fault. Some evil man forced/manipulated her into it. To the white knight, women are goddesses made of glass: objects of reverence and devotion but too fragile to handle to sharp edges of the world of men. It is a peculiar mentality.

Yes. TRPers have constructed the image in their minds of the "white knight" as the basement dwelling virgin neckbeard lacking either LIFTING or GAME. Some facts contradict this image. In American history, the members of the Ku Klux Klan, when they weren't terrorizing blacks, also enjoyed beating men who "dishonored" local women or failed to support their children. The police have been know to rough up men accused of "domestic violence." Politicians since the 1920s have shamelessly pandered to the female voters and passed laws that have benefitted women as a class but degraded liberty for all.

White knights are neither weak nor harmless nor benign. White Knights are woman-worshippers and are more than willing to wage war on heretics and unbelievers.

In my actual life, I've twice come to the physical defense of a friend's girlfriend, and a friend of mine (The former got my ass kicked pretty decisively), entirely on the basis that they're my friends, and they were in altercations with sketchy people.

That's so great, men always stand up while these girls can handle it themselves AND the others will just attack you while the girls are rather safe.

Don't consider myself a white knight, but have defended a lot of women. It wasn't to gain favors, I just get combative when I drink... Or even when I don't drink for that matter. Used to get tossed from clubs and bars pretty rebularly.

A white knight, to me, would be someone who always defers to women in any kind of conflict that isn't cut and dry(and even some that are).

Of course, the problem with a phrase like that is it's ripe for misuse. Just like any other phrase used to describe and portion out people. Inevitably someone who disagrees with something similar will start to use it for everyone who shows even a hint of what the label involves, regardless of if it's deserved or not.

Which ultimately makes terms like that useless because who is to say who is using it right or wrong? It's why, when I use a term, I prefer to use it strictly.

Doing some thing for a woman that you would do for an equivalent man.

So for example If a woman is making a pants on head stupid statement or argument, you would jump in to the rescues of m'lady and bolster her idiotic argument. (this does not apply if you both believe the same idiotic thing then you are just defending your position). Unless you would do the same thing for an equivalent male you are white knight and need to stop being a degenerate sexist.

Another situation a woman is clearly picking a fight. in sub situation A you know this woman in sub situation B you do not.

She picks a fight (as in a physical altercation not and argument) with a man. She hits that man then you jump in to save her from her self. you have just shielded her from her own agency you are a degenerate sexist.

In sub situation B you are still a degenerate sexist but to a lesser degree as you know the woman. I would be willing to bet that if she had been a he in either case you would not have jumped to the rescue.

Again the hall mark of the white knight is doing some thing for women that they would not do for men.

It need to stop, chivalry is dead in both senses of the word (though i did marry my ex to a polish prince for a better trade deal /s). Just don't, she a strong independent woman and you need to respect her agency... even if that agency means she get rocked by a guy twice her size for picking a fight. men protecting women is literally holding women back... well more like coddling really. And small wonder women don't like guys that condescend to them like that (read NICEGUYS^TM). Being a white knight means you view your self as the Agent at all times. It all mean you don't view women as agent or you selectively view women as agents. In feminist terms this is called benevolent / positive sexism (/u/cuittler can verify for me ). it the oldest form of traditionalism (woman weak (not and agent) / man bad trope). Will treating women as agents get you laid? sort of and by sort of i mean indirectly. First off white knight occasionally end up in relationships. They tend to look a lot like this (look at his eyes) So the quality of the relationship if you manage to get in to one will be sub par as you have no spine and the type of woman that will be down for that will be abusive. (same goes for women but we are talking about men here darling)

So the TLDR is that white knights / niceguys^tm are virulent degenerate sexists, and having a spine (read setting and enforcing boundaries) is prerequisite for having a healthy relationship.

In some ways I am very White Knight-ish.

If my girl or a female relative were in the wrong, I would take their side, even if I clearly knew they were wrong, but it's the same with male relatives and friends. I'd even do it to get people who are powerful/influential within the group onside, even if I know they're acting hysterically or are simply wrong.

I am able to understand right and wrong in the scientific sense, but outside academia, right = what's right for me.

People might think this is stupid or irrational, but actually it's very normal to take care of those closest you in this way, in the same way that you love your children more than you love someone else's children. I am of course aware some SJW's say that birth is an accident and that everyone is equal.

White knights are tipically the men indoctrinated with deep misoginy or deep radical feminism, that hold the view that women ought to be protected from the "villains" (all other men), and that seize the opportunity to always make his defence clear in the situation, but their defense is often hypocrital and expecting a payback in return in form of love or sex. The same way a PUA can pretend to be an asshole to get girls attracted, the white knight does the entirelly opposite, he feels that by protecting and being super nice to the girl, while putting her in a pedestal, will gain her affection and love. In someways, there's a great interception between Nice Guys^TM and White Knights^TM as they are often the same people, and when they aren't the same, Nice Guys^TM often are a transitioning phase from White Knights to PUA.

In personal experience, i used to be a white knight. Since very young i would say. Even as kid, i used to protect girls from guys, and i grew up having some great friendships with some girls, i often saw women's emotional and relationship problems as the guy's fault, and i had a deep hatred of players and douchebags that used to pump and dump or be assholes to my friends, an i was often the guy that they came crying on my shoulder over how mean their guys were.

I took it for granted for several years, and it wasn't until my mid twenties, that i eventually came up to the conclusion of : " Really, girls? Like, i'm here 100% emotionally available, friendly, cool guy, that is protecting you 100% of the time, and you really go after those bunch of assholes every single time, while i'm a virgin in my mid twenties? Ragequit".

And then bam. I fell into deep depression, and while on it, i tended to overthing everything, until i analysed my conclusions of how most of the girls i knew choose their partners, and i started to recognize some merit to "players" and redpillers. Now, i'm somewhere near a red piller.

I've seen it maybe...5 times? Ever? I swear the term is overused to hell and has come to mean "defending a woman for any reason whatsoever".

Growing up, I found myself in the company of many white knights.

My biggest problem was their sense of their own superiority. They "got women" and knew everything they wanted/needed, unlike all those other (unsophisticated, unenlightened, insensitive) men (whom they would throw under the bus at any opportunity if they thought it might bring them closer to a woman/women). And they were the only ones who could give women what they really wanted (whether women realized it or not).

Generally, I saw it as sycophantic and ingratiating behavior in an attempt to gain approval and validation (and, therefore, sex) from women. Also, they generally exhibited an extraordinary level of internalized misandry.

Mostly, I saw them as fairly pathetic, super-thirsty men trying anything and everything to prove they were "special snowflakes" who were "worthy" of female attention (since they weren't attractive enough to get that attention honestly).

A white knight is a pathetic creature who happens to have a Y chromosome, but reflexively supports the woman in every altercation she may have with a man without engaging his reasoning skills.

Theories abound about the causes of his behavior. A popular one is that he is a blue piller who secretly hopes that one of his acts one day will lead to a pity fuck from one of his many damsels in distress. Probably sees himself as a Ronin.

I wouldn't go as far as to label them a problem. More an amusing side show.

White knighting is a MASSIVE problem. I've found that women simply don't understand right from wrong because they always have swarms of knights ready to coddle and defend them no matter what kinds of things they do.

And I used to join that crowd too, and sadly it took me being on the wrong end of that white knighting repeatedly before it finally sunk in just how much of a problem it really is.
