There are so many people in this world I don't respect. It's never been based on whats's between a person's legs.

I mean, who has respect for murderers and thieves? Do you honestly think anyone is going to come in and go 'nope, I respect them all because pussy!'?

As a rule, I actively try not to dislike entire groups based on a rudimentary criteria - I'm pretty such that's what prejudice is, and I don't really aspire to be an unkind person. In fact, I tend to disrespect those kinds of people, women included. They tend to be pretty ignorant.

I guess I don't really have respect for the 'Haha I'm just so ditzy I can barely function!' crowd, nor the type of women who go after men based on their money. I have little tolerance for ignorance in general. I have a strong dislike for statements like 'men will never understand women!' 'treat me like a princess' and 'if you can't love me at my worst, you don't deserve me at my best!' (Belch). I sometimes roll my eyes when I see pregnant teenagers, because contraception really isn't that hard and what are you thinking - but that one is probably a bit unkind since I don't know the about their lives. I'm not a fan of your typical 'drama queen'. I don't like Bible thumpers of either sex in general. Because I was just discussing it, I don't really it when larger women body shame slimmer women (it's thinly-veiled jealousy), but at the other end of the scale I don't like women who think their looks alone qualify them for anything.

Also, I feel like Sarah Palin should get her own category.

Hah, quite a list.

Come to think of it, I don't think there's anyone (either man or woman) in my life now who I don't have some kind of respect for. If you'd asked me during high school, then for sure - but one of the neat things about post-college life is that you can select the people you want to have in your life much more effectively. Some people annoy me, sure, but not enough for me to actively disrespect them.

Sure, just like men I don't respect, she would have to be doing something that I don't consider worthy of respect. Some things that come to mind include child molesters, corrupt political officials, cyber bullies, scammers, etc. There is nothing, however, that I'd consider fine from one gender but unacceptable from another. All the things a woman could do that would cause me to lose respect for her, I'd also feel the same way about a man if he did them and vice versa.

I don't look at respect from a gendered perspective. There are all kinds of things that people do that make me lose respect for them, but nothing that a woman does that makes me lose respect for her compared to a man doing the same thing and me not losing respect for him.

why would I respect someone just for being a woman. ill give it when i get to know the person and i deem the person worthy of my respect.

and i wont go for the demographic route of sluts or single moms, criminals etc. even a criminal can be respectable, just as you may do the duties of a respectable citizen but be a total scum.

thieves, a robin hood person for example. murderer, a man who killed the person who raped and tortured his daughter is technically one but I can respect him. whore, who uses the money to send her brother to college

i dont really get to meet a lot who are worth it. i meet a lot of average folks at best or worthy of scorn

Respect is a nuanced thing. I can respect my boyfriend as being an expert in chemical engineering, while disrespecting any opinions he has in biology. There's different kinds of respect, different ways to respect people. I respect everyone on some level just for being humans. A murder/child rapist is still a person and still gets some level of respect, though his actions may be awful and I don't respect his feelings and well being.

How I decide how to respect people isn't that dependent on gender. Sure, there are lots of women that I don't respect their actions or mentality. People who harm others, use people, don't take responsibility for their actions. Those people have very little respect from me, regardless of gender.

To start, I have zero respect for child abusers and regular abusers.

I think there are two tiers of respect that I have. One is the respect for another as a human being (which I generally accord to all), and the other is respect on an individual level.

So while I loathe the anti-vax movement, and I may not respect a mom touting it on a personal level, I still respect that the mom is a human being, and that guides how I interact with her.

I don't have any respect for any person on the basis of their gender. Their gender may add to how much respect I have for them, but that's usually on the basis of their gender having been an obstacle to success.

There's plenty of women I don't respect, but just to give one example: The women on r/foreveralonewomen. At best they're a bunch of whiners; at worst they're like female NiceGuys. Plenty of people are unhappy with their lives, but that's never going to change if you sit around feeling sorry for yourself. I don't agree with RPW but at least they're willing to take some action to try and get what they want out of life.
