Yes I think telling your partner that you've never touched or been touched in that way when you have is a huge problem. No one should feel comfortable telling that big of a lie to their partner.

A factor though is why they felt the need to do it? Will they be cast out and degraded as sluts by everyone because they've slept with one or two men ever in their whole life? Then shit, I think the injustice done to them outweighs the injustice they are doing. But it would take an extreme case to justify. Context does matter though, people, let's be real.

If she lives in a culture where not being a virgin could land her and her family in serious trouble, then I think the need for deception outweighs the importance of honesty in this case.

If she's in no danger and is just doing it to make herself more attractive, then aye, sure, the action is unfair, assuming that she knows her fiancé wants a virgin and is deliberately deceiving him.

Yes I have a problem with this. Why would you want to start a relationship with this kind of dishonesty in it? I am very pro honesty in relationships and I know mine would not work if my SO and I couldn't be honest with each other.

I think though that the women who get this kind of surgery are probably part of societies that see a non-virgin as worthless, so I can understand why they would want this. I still think it makes for a crappy relationship.

It's wrong to mislead people like that, but I don't think it is usually about deceiving men. The only cases I've heard of it are from religious women, particularly born again Christians, who regret sinning and losing their virginity. In the spirit of being "born again" and cleansed of sin, they get the procedure done. AFAIK they are honest about, the one case I saw the woman got one while dating a dude she intended to marry.

But if she did do it just to try to trick men into dating/marrying them, then yes, that would be wrong. You are allowed to discriminate when dating based on whatever you want, and the people you date should be able to respect your personal choice. This seems like an uninteresting question. I don't think very many people think it is okay to lie to your partner on topics that they feel are important.

I think the sort of women who (in a liberal western democracy) would do that are perfectly matched to the sort of guys who absolutely need a virgin. I hope they marry and make each other's lives unhappy for many decades. This is one of those stories in which there is no sympathetic character but at least the wrong are inflicting themselve on the wrong.

this is a tough one; i don't really think deception by members of either sex is right, but at the same time, i agree that she should have the right to opt for such a surgery since it's her body, and a completely personal matter (especially considering the way some cultures view and value virginity in women).

honestly and personally, for this particular surgery and probably other surgeries, i don't see how it's much different from wearing makeup or having hair removed. this is just an assumption, but if she's willing to 'restore' her virginity, it seems like she's also renouncing her past for someone new and has already let that go and made a decision to do something different (so there's no real threat to the new guy).

i'm fairly tired and may need to edit this later if it doesn't make sense, but at least currently those are my thoughts.

Aside from religious persecutions/dire situations that do not apply to 1st world America, anyone who has hymen reconstruction surgery to "be a virgin" again is crazy delusional. Sex isn't just a physical thing, once you've had sex, you've had sex and, mentally, you are different.

It would be totally wrong for a woman to identify as a virgin after she had the surgery. There is a lot more involved than the integrity of your stupid hymen.

Now to answer your question. I believe a woman has a right to make decisions with her own body. If she wants to get surgery, for any part of her body, not necessarily the hymen, she has that right, because it's her body.

So no, I don't think it's wrong. What a loaded, ridiculous question.
