Eh not really, the vikings were a true warrior culture of roaming marauders, not a large scale civilization methodically conscripting men against their will to fight wars they have no interest in. The average soldier in ww1/2 vietnam had no real incentive to fight, it was all about elite power plays. Vikings mostly kept the shit they stole and eventually settled down into other cultures

Well, it's not conclusive what the female Vikings in the grave actually mean. Were female vikings in the initial landing parties? Or did they just arrive as colonists. Is it possible that these Viking women were actually Anglo-Saxon women who were taken as wives and turned viking? Is it possible that there was something unique about one Viking settlement? Is it possibly a fluke ( I thought I read they only tested 13-14 bodies)?

Assuming that women and men fought together regularly and the society was egalitarian, then yes, I think that both feminist and MRA theories are somewhat wrong about this particular culture. To be fair though, I think most feminists and MRAs would admit that their theories are supposed to be indicative of a general trend. There would be cultures that are outliers.

Huh? Given a roughly 50/50 Male/Female population, it seems rather obvious that roughly half the bodies in viking graves (or any other graves for that matter) would be female, no? Am I missing something?

Feminists usually talk about women being chattel in context. vikings were not part of that, so not relevant.

MRAs are talking about context as well, and possibly a more restricted and modern one. Viking women being warriors has no bearing on the fact that men today are disposable.

Very few cultures actually treat women as property, despite using language that would depict them as such. Women fighting with men doesn't contradict male disposability(though, even if it did, one culture doing things differently doesn't change how others do things). Women fighting with men doesn't mean men wouldn't be expected to fight first, that men were deemed to have no value as anything but fighters(whereas women would have been valued whether they chose to be fighters or not) or that men weren't expected to defend women on the battlefield either.

Shouldn't women be half the population buried no matter once since they're half the population? If one gender were immortal that'd make things different but as I understand it the mortality rate for men and women over long periods of time (say Viking era to today) are pretty even at exactly 100% for both.

What is the asking price for a woman? seriously, I got some money and I think if a buy some women and pimp them out I can make more than just investing it. What's the maintenance cost for one? She can't eat more than a great dane.

Male disposability: fuck that shit, if another pimp or client beats up my girls, they can handle him on their own: equality, girl power and all that. I am not putting myself in a way of bodily harm for a woman. Even when they need a ride to a johns house in a creepy neighborhood at night, I'm not getting her to her appointment, she has some mace and a rape whistle so she can handle herself.
