He screamed it in public to humiliate me. The worst part was that, as I told him to go fuck himself and tried not to cry, I couldn’t prove to myself that what he said wasn’t true. This woman's claims are simply outrageous. She claims so many outlandish things. A sampling here:

was raped multiple times over months by a colleague
another colleague held her against a wall and threw things at her; she claims other colleagues says he raped them the same way he raped her
spoke at a professional conference where 2 dozen men in the audience shout-chanted for her to take her shirt off
was offered bribes on 2 occasions by her employers to leave to avoid sexual harassment charges
was solicited for sexual favors at multiple job interviews
had a boss who wanted to have a company meeting at a strip club

Who on earth has all of these things happen to them? Just reading the list makes me not believe her. So many odd and weird things. Who chants for someone to take their shirt off at a professional conference? Of course, key details are left out of any of these claims; no way to verify or refute it that way.

She goes on to create new terms to label the same old solipsistic shit such as always believing the accuser and creates an us vs them mentality in this regard, and explicitly says so, saying people who don't believe the accuser or even wait to get more information consider the accuser the enemy.

She asserts she has to be believed because the whistleblower will never be named a team player and after all, why come forward at all with so much to lose and nothing to gain? I'll tell you why. It's to have her narcissistic needs met. Who on earth has all of these things happen to them without playing a major role getting there in the first place. The whole essay is over 3,400 words. That's a lot of damn words for somebody to write about this issue.

There is no reason that women could not be successful in tech.

That said, with over 17 years in tech I can say women in tech is very, very rare.

Tech is hard, you constantly have to learn and master new things and understand complicated technology that generally takes time to master.

Women are far, far more prevalent in Sales in the tech field. Being pretty and relying on your looks is far easier, you don't need to understand technology to sell it.

I see this all the time.

These girls have an easy time through college because all their professors go easy on them, because "we need more women in STEM". They get a nice easy job right out of college because "we need more women in tech". But when the pressure hits, and they fail to deliver, they experience a cognitive dissonance. They can't accept the fact that they really aren't as good as they thought they were, because of all of the positive reinforcement they've experience their entire life up to that point. So obviously there must be some outside source to blame, the patriarchy, rape culture etc. The upper echelons of the tech world are fucking competitive and cut throat, most men can't handle it. If you can't deliver your code, you get fucking cut. It's that simple and it happens all the time to both men and women. And obviously some diversity hire woman who barely qualifies in the first place is going to really struggle at these companies. These companies are all aware of the gender gap in tech, and they adjust their hiring to compensate. Which means of a good percentage of these women are not fully qualified, and are just there to meet a quota.

I've known a girl who was actually raped, and when it was brought up she was in fucking tears before it left her mouth. Her whole body was quivering when she tried to tell me. I doubt that she'd be able to write about how proud a woman she was after having it happen numerous times, by the same co-worker, who happened to rape all the other women in the office.

Background: I'm 29 and have been working in corporate America since I was 17 years old. During that time I earned a degree in Computer Science, completed a good collection of certifications and have experience working for some of the best tech companies in the United States.

In my opinion ... you could throw darts at a board and it's just a good a guess as to why there aren't more women in technology fields.

What I do know is that I worked fucking hard to get where I am. I was the epitome of beta male because I had no interaction with women. I never had a girlfriend, I didn't go to parties; I stayed inside with computers and learned things constantly. At my first "tech job" I would physically lug and setup computers for hours a day. It was back breaking work, but I did it with a smile on my face. In college I sacrificed partying and fun so that I could drive an hour to my 5:00AM tech support job for $8/hr.

When I was confused about a technology I was laughed at by my fellow techs and felt, and sometimes told, that I was stupid. Instead of crying about it I would go home and figure it out. I've been called every name in the book, I've been given every kind of degrading work you can get in IT ... and you know what? Life got easier as I got smarter and more experienced. Without that hardship I wouldn't be where I am at the age I am.

I've never met an admin who trusts someone they can't heckle and they can't (excitedly) chat tech/geeky stuff with. (For all my experience and education; my coworkers still call me SAB "server admin bitch") These people know they lost out on all sorts of "fun" stuff in their younger years and they do hold a grudge against people who did do it and are trying to now play on their level.

A relative of mine was actually raped. Not got drunk and fucked someone raped, as in brutally beaten in her own car raped. This is ridiculous. I'm "economically" coerced into working every day (i.e. if I don't work, my employer will stop paying me and fire me), but that's completely distinct from slavery, which is work forced using physical coercion (or threats of physical coercion), and is illegal. What you're describing is essentially prostitution. While illegal in some jurisdictions, it's far from rape.

Late to the party, but I really need to get this off my chest.

I despise third wave feminists. I'm a senior studying ECE. My classes are dominated by men, but it's not because of sexism. It's because women don't like doing what I do.

Here's the thing. My degree tells employers that I have a certain skill set. These 3rd wavers complain about sexism in the tech sector, but that's not the issue. The issue is that women don't want to do anything STEM related. What do they enroll in? Psychology, Women's Studies, anything artsy fartsy or liberal artsy. I'm sure there's a huge market for those skillsets. Oh wait, there's not. So what do they do? Shoehorn themselves into the tech industry without any experience or skill because it's sexist to not hire women. Is it still sexist if no woman is qualified for the work? Cue the bitching until they get their way. The tech sector is highly recession proof as of now. Women want in. They want the pay. They don't want to take the correct path to get skilled. So now, the employer has to waste a spot for a hire to fill a quota. A pair of tits and a balloon full of air up top to boot. What does this mean for my job market? Such a waste means one less job multiplied across multiple departments across companies across industries. It adds up. My market is now shallower than previously and my degree value is diluted. Why get the thing if some woman can get the job without putting in the work? It becomes less valuable. Less sought after. Have a vagina? GREAT! You're hired! Have the skillset we're looking for? Sorry, we just filled the last spot with our quota hire.

Parts of the tech industry are immune from feminism when there are no cartels. Once a segment is dominated by a few key players then feminism invades through collusion, gov't vendor requirements, etc.

Smaller, cutting edge, and niche markets in tech can be safe havens, and still wildly profitable.

I'm and an Electronic Engineer in training and we have a sole 1 (one) woman in our course. She is wonderful and coincidently not white (she is from the south east Asia)

Our lecturers are 2/3 women, none of whom are white.

I really think that white SJW feminists just want engineering money and prestige without actually having to any of the work (surprise surprise!)

It reminds me of a conversation I had with a feminist friend of a friend who outright claimed that we should automatically believe the story of every rape accuser and act accordingly. I almost had a fucking brain aneurism. How can anyone actually believe that?!

The reason the word 'allegedly' is used when people make complaints, especially about the kind of things mentioned in this post such as rape, is because typically all they have provided at that point is an allegation - no evidence. Nobody, NOBODY has the right to be automatically and unequivocally believed when they make an accusation because it is too easy to fabricate an accusation, the consequences for the accused of assuming their guilt are often horrific and irreversible, and a civilised society respects rules of process for establishing facts and guilt.
