My ltr and I have been together since early 2017, and never have we ever talked about politics, due to me never having an interest after mid-2017.

In 2018 there was one instance when she asked me who I voted for. I didn’t care anymore, and brushed it off.

This morning we were hanging out, and out of the blue she asked me who I voted for, due to all the #WW3 and #impeachtrump stuff on the media. I responded with “you don’t want me to answer that”, and almost instantly I knew I failed the shit test that was given to me in 2018. She gets up, takes a shower, texts me to leave. I leave and she texts this:

“I feel sick to my stomach to think I fell in love with someone who would put morals aside when voting.”

I text her “my past political support isn’t who I am today”. As I really do not care about politics anymore and wanted to get my point across, as I have been for the past 2 years. I see that I failed a test, so where do I go from here? I’m sure she will get over it, as she usually does, but politics to her is an important topic between her and her family, even though they are all on different ends of the political parties.
