Yep, as I tell men on this site anytime I get the chance: Women are not emotional support animals. You desire mental and emotional stability do that before you get into a relationship, don't seek a relationship for it. So many broken men who think a woman will fix all their problems.

I recently asked my boyfriend to go to therapy, and said it was really important to me that he at least try it out because he has issues he needs to work through. He kept saying he'd do it, but months went by and he didn't schedule the appt. When I asked my friend what to do, she said I should schedule the appt for him because men need help with that kind of thing. Fucking ridiculous, im his girlfriend not his mother

I love this but I still kind of have qualms as again it is putting the onus of their behavior onto the parents (which we know implys the mother) rather than themselves. Badly raised still diverts the blame from the men themselves. I hate how so much of language still coddles men without even realizing it.

A lot of the older people in my family believe this though. They genuinely believe it’s a woman’s job to correct a man, as if he isn’t already a grown ass man.

Very true. It makes me feel sad. If only everyone had a stable and emotionally healthy upbringing so that they wouldn't be really hurtful in their relationships.
