I remember 5-10 years ago, I met many great, generous, kind, caring, protective guys, both in real life and online dating. Those who believed in love making, those who actually pursued something lasting and tried hard bettering themselves. I had the time of my life dating people who genuinely were good.

Now after my last relationship, I am back into the dating game. I look at online dating and what I see are empty profiles, or sexist/abusive/derogatory initial messages, "polyamorous", the greasiest, most ungroomed and nastiest pictures I've ever seen, eggplant emojis, no follow up questions and generally one liner responses and no bother asking me out.

I look at porn, and while it has never really been considerate of women, nowadays it seems to be more about female humiliation than actual sex (see r/banfemalehatesubs to see some really depraved shit men are getting off to), just like teenage fetishisation, incel communities, mgtow, trp and similar groups seeminly pop out like mushrooms these days.

The effort, self care, self improvement, character, personality is as low as never before, the gaslighting, humiliation, rudeness, disrespect skyrocketed. It's shocking that I must say that just by not looking like a total hobo and not being a massive turdbag, a guy is already in the top 1%. While I always weeded out the useless and LV ones rigorously, it's like nowadays all of them are LV. They almost make the random indian "send bobs and vagene" dude we memed about in 2010 seem attractive.

But at the same time, while being zero effort, empty profile, boring message, no self care, no drive to be better, abusive, the very same guys whine abkut being lonely and wanting something serious.

It's like the stronger, more independent, wealthier, prettier women got in the last couple of years, the more degenerate, hateful, grinch-like men collectively decided to become. What happened? Has it really always been this way? Does anyone else have a similar impression about dating in the last couple of years?
