Pull back for a moment and see the big perspective. Today you live your life in whatever way that happens to be, and then you will be older. Every passing day will accumulate and eventually you will come to a time when you see the changes unfolding before you. You will put on a few pounds, you wont exercise as much, you will find it harder to walk, fuck, stay up late, look handsome, dress cool, and most importantly, you wont care about the stupid shit you cared about in your younger years. You will have a fair amount of failures and debacles attributed to you, as all of us have, and hopefully your successes will outweigh them.

Long before you die, you will succumb in some measure to obesity, diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, or perhaps even a stroke. Not everyone goes out in a blaze of glory. A loving person though you may be, only a few will have the time to be in your life. Hopefully those people who remain close to you will not be pathological.

It is a fact that the vigour of your brain and body will decline sharply long before you die, and long before you are finished needing them. You will be fortunate if someone who holds your interest in heart is there to help you through this difficult time. You will likely finish your life in a residential care facility or perhaps palliative care, where you are locked in for your safety, where the nurses dress you, feed you, medicate you, and help you shit and piss. You will be pretty much helpless, potentially for years, and then you will die. Hopefully there will be someone close to you that loves you, and stands strong for you with integrity.

What really matters, what really really matters in your life is that your life plan leads you to land softly and safely in your old age, when you are no longer the strongest, the sharpest, or the handsomest. Neither the crap nor the boastable accomplishments in your life, be it for your hallowed career or your personal amusements, matter. Nothing matters like your future need to assure your safety and gentle demise in your final years. However, it will definitely matter to have trusting relationships with people, usually family, who will take on the business of managing your care. I hope for you there is someone there.

You are most definitely mortal. Work, and work for your future. Most of what people say to deny you progress forward in your life is a lie. Remove toxic people and experiences from your life. And remember that the great dramatic scenario of modern adult life is nothing but a form of kalidescopic subterfuge, most of which does not matter in the big picture at all, and just obscures the things that really matter: the security of your final years, when you will need to live and exist without anything that you have now.

edit: added culture flair. Not sure what flair to put in.
