I finally took a few spare minutes and made a female dating profile to see things from that side. I imagine other dating platforms are similar.

The reason: Your pictures are wimpy AF.

I use that word deliberately. Wimpy. You're some scrawny guy holding a kitty, or maybe you have some muscle and a beard but are sipping a latte. Fuck your server room photo too, nobody thinks it's cool (I work in IT and I think your server room sucks). Very few photos I saw made me say "I should click on his profile because I can learn from his profile." Most photos showed me what not to do.

You need manly/cool photos. No fucking selfies (unless a girl is clearly holding the camera). If you have no friends to take a photo then get some damn friends first. Ask the bartender or card dealer if you must.

Everything after your pictures is secondary. Your profile content is useless, put in a little light humor to meet the character count and that's it. Since as a male you are doing the approaching, the notion of a retail conversion rate (i.e. door traffic to cash transactions) doesn't apply because you are sending the messages.

The entirety of the success of your profile rests on your photos. My fake page is getting lit up (averaging a "like"
