Reminds me of an ex who used to shit-test in another way. We'd watch a show together and she'd always fixate on one of the actors. How hot he is, etc. I'd just ignore her words. Until one time, I finally said "yeah, I wouldn't mind meeting [actress]. Damn". I wasn't even that serious about it, just going along with her conversation. I knew what she was trying to do, so I made my move.

She went real silent. You could almost hear the hamster wheel turning. She starts probing "I thought you liked women with longer hair" or "Is she your type?" and other probing shit. She was showing complete insecurity in herself, and was wondering why her cunty little needling didn't work on me the same way. Hell, the next day she even sent a picture of the actress at an awards show looking hot as fuck saying "haha here's your favorite actress". I'm guessing she was trying to "prove" how secure she was.

So it was perfectly fine to talk about hot actors, but the minute I mention an actress the tone of the room changes? They NEVER expect to be treated equally, even when shit-testing, and it was the perfect move for me to play. Acting like an insecure bitch was the move she wanted from me, instead I managed to make her act like it.

It's always the problem when a guy takes it, and takes it, and takes it... and then one day decides he's had enough. It can get really bad if a guy's been taking shit for years, because then the explosive release of finally allowing himself to react means he might go a bit overboard, and say (or do) stuff that he genuinely later regrets. (And not only if outsiders get involved.)

This is why it's important to stop this kind of shitty behavior the first time it happens. You don't have to be clever, you don't have to be quick, you only have to be clear.

If, after making your wishes clear, she won't respect them, then she doesn't respect you either.

And the sooner you realize it, the better.
