In my previous relationship, I'd make myself smaller because this clown would show up in basketball type of shorts, dirty or too worn sneakers, and shirts that were discoloured or had holes in them. It wasn't because he couldn't afford clothes, he just was too lazy to sort out his closet and keep only the things that were still good to wear, do not be me, do not quit to the things you love, it's not vain, don't let them gaslight you into thinking that liking to taking time to groom yourself is being materialistic. If you don't like it that's okay, just be clean and iron your clothes, it goes a long way, tbh

I don’t think you really got the whole point of the video. She was describing a friend was who EXTRA fashionable (diamonds, trendy etc) she said to tone it down because it looks ridiculous and over the top. And yes if you do wanna attract a good guy, you can’t just wear your whole closet on you. She told women to have good hair and makeup. Everything in moderation.

Only insecure, controlling men care or feel intimidated that you're dressed "too nice", or sometimes, even wear makeup.

I once briefly saw a guy who would practically fly into a fit of rage whenever his woman wore makeup. He turned out to be an insecure control freak. I believe HVM would love to have you looking your best because they're proud to be seen with you.

I disagree.

She is stating what is attractive to men and describing it. It's not a moral code, or saying you SHOULD always wear a tshirt and jeans.

She is describing what most men, in her experience, find attractive.

Personally, I DGAF about looking approachable because I have been approached often enough. I am not a Shallon fan so I have no skin in this fight.

It is simply useful info for women who might think they NEED to look like pornstars or prom queens or any other ridiculous beauty convention.

If you watch her other videos, all are about levelling up, boundaries, being confident... In service of ourselves.

I don't like her celeb-inspired videos at all but I do think she has Queen energy.

That said I upvote this post because I think a good discussion can be had here.

Unless there's more to it (I only listened to the bit you highlighted) she's also acting like her friend being single was bad. I don't really know why people are hearing it a different way, she very clearly says you should look like any old man can approach you, no man should think he doesn't stand a chance with you. The important thing isn't to avoid self-described clowns and slobs but to make them think you want them?

She says "it did kinda work" what is she happily married now? Or she just had some slobs approach her, who wouldn't have liked the way she normally dressed, and it was a big fat waste of her time. Oh god. My daily get up is boots, skinny jeans, a nice top and a couple jewelry items. I show up to a date i.e sex appointment and the guy takes one look and asks why are you dress up we not going anywhere. I'm not dude.
