The lowest value dude I ever dated was a complete robot about things that actually mattered: people he loves hurting, his family members getting sick, conflict with friends, personal disappointments, etc

But the weird thing was, I saw him lose his shit about really stupid things, for example, he bawls when certain celebrities die even if they’re not someone who held any importance in his life. He lost it when Mac Miller (the rapper) died even though he only listened to a handful of his songs. He also made a snarky comment once about how I “wasn’t there for him” because I had to board a flight a few minutes after he texted me that a famous cyclist he likes was hit by a car.

He also tends to glamorize these people after they die, even if he was just a casual fan before that. When Anthony Bourdain died he called him one of the “great minds of our generation”- like, it’s sad he died and he was no doubt a talented chef, but he wasn’t without his issues and you can mourn someone without condoning every aspect of their life

It’s really strange. Has anyone else had this experience? What is up with it?
