I know it's all about building my confidence, yet it's where I just struggle most, and I feel like it's repeatedly disrupted having successful relationships.

It's like the chemistry starts off great, treated well in beginning. And despite being kindly, dressing nicely, the guy loses interest in a few months and ends up cheating.

I can't shake that my background has set me up to fail. My dad raised us with controlling narcissist authority style, my older brother molested me in my formative years (my biggest nose dive with self esteem issues), and I was raised Mormon, and taught to be meek, humble, docile, ultra loving, and follow priesthood authority.

I've been Ex-Mormon for 5 years now. Dating outside of the Mormon bubble is very different than expectations within it. Even within it, dating for me was unsuccessful because of my emotional baggage and thick doormat nature of accepting and excusing shitty behaviors from men.

I'm tired of only blaming my past too. I've been given a bad hand, and want to turn it into a winning hand.

Many have complimented my looks and appearing very youthful for my age (I turned 34 in fall), but I feel paranoid I'll be alone forever. I'm the only one of 5 adult siblings whose single, also am second oldest, and the rest of them are in happy long-term relationships.

It's hard to not feel alone, and to rewire my wrong religious brainwashing that I'm of little value without being married and having kids yet. The Mormon culture is toxic in this hidden way. On the surface, everyone praises them for their close family values, while underneath making women feel like shit if they haven't married by 25 years of age. I left before I "aged out" disgracefully from the young single adult church ward at 30, fuck that. The same religion also labeled me a sinner for my brother's incest abuse towards me.....

How do I get out of my head, realize how much potential I have, and just feel happy with myself? I also just got out of a toxic year long relationship with a never-Mormon guy, the first guy I experienced sex with at 33. He turned out to be a fuckboy, go meeeee. Sigh I feel so fed up. I'm looking up gyms to get out some healthy frustrations first.
