Sometimes you're not even intimidating, you just don't perform all the cutesy and extra saccharine behaviours for men. I've seen the same guy not be bothered at all by how his friend spoke, but when I spoke in a similarly direct manner, he didn't know how to answer and later said that I was intimidating.
It reminds me of all the guys who said they like strong women who are intimidating and know what they want. What they actually mean is that they're lazy and they want her to make all the decisions in the relationship, instead of it being a partnership.

Oh yes. Happened to me hanging out with guys. We were having fun and bantering and I said the same things like they did, when one of the other guys said (one I didn't know well, a friend of a friend) "I have never met a woman that talks like you, like not lady-like and such" it just felt like a veiled insult, but I decided to just roll with it and shrug. Sorry, not sorry I am not all flowers and fluff.

This makes me think of how much extra work women put to be pleasant around others. I still do some because of female socialization, but to be all giggles, smiles, and ego-stroking cheerleader for men must be exhausting.

Nothing wrong with being, in fact, intimidating. You are not supposed to be prey.

predatory and sick men love if we behave like prey though. I read a post on ask women over 30 I think it was, with a woman out for a walk that had to "play along" with a psychopath because otherwise he would assault her. So insane

I ran into a former high school crush of mine yesterday. I didn't even recognize him because The Wall hit him super hard, but figured he was still a chill guy. Then at some point he said I was intimidating and I remembered exactly why I lost interest all those years ago lmao

Men are so used to being dominate over women that they perceive any woman who won't lie down as a threat.

I always thought it was stupid how being intimidating was thought of as an insult. Being powerful isn't an insult.
