Thoughts on prenup?

Prenups are supposed to benefit both parties, I’m pro prenups.

The nicest men will be is during the beginning of your relationship. Get a lawyer and make sure you have an ironclad pre-nup.

Include things like compensation for time off work if you put your career on hold to have children, separations of certain assets like retirement accounts.

Basically decide what you would need if you were to divorce.

My ex husband was entitled to, and took a huge chunk of my 401k. I will never get married again without a prenup. Edit- ...and oh yeah, I paid HIM spousal support during our separation (even though I had full custody of our child). Figure that one out?!

Prenups will become more important for women as time goes by, since men are increasingly underachieving, while women are now overachieving at all fronts.

Don't try to come up with the content yourself, make sure you get the advice of an extremely savvy lawyer, so it benefits you but is still ironclad.

A lawyer will think of stuff you haven't even dreamed of yet.

Get one. For yourself. Make sure you put in there that if he cheats, he leaves, no rights to anything accumulated during your marriage. Trust me.

Edit to be more specific: He should be required to continue paying half of the bills and living expenses in the event of a divorce. Whatever you pay together now, double it. You’ll need it. He should be required to pay any and all legal fees. He should be obligated to pay spousal support from the moment he walks out the door.

It sounds extreme, it’s not. I am damn near homeless because I did not have a prenup. I was diagnosed with lupus and bedridden, in and out of the hospital. I woke up one morning and everything I owned was gone as well as all of the money. I could not work, I was deathly ill. I still am. Me and our pets starved and froze for three weeks before I had to call an ambulance. Don’t even consider risking it.

Many women end up losing the house and livng in poverty for the rest of their lives after a divorce while the men thrive and have benefited from the years of their wives sacrifices for his career. Get a prenup to protect yourself.

Pro prenups! If it is wildly uneven due to circumstances changing or men holding back information, judges will overturn them. It's not common but not unheard of. They are really meant to protect women and men with the possibility of cheating clauses, etc. So it will protect you and your assets as well.

Yes to prenups. Studies show that women, not men, end up much worse off after divorce. Studies also point to the fact that women trust too much in the man and that’s why they get screwed.

I'm pro-prenup. It protects both parties, and isn't it nicer to know if the worst happens, you have a plan?
