Your face matters but so does everything else that comprises your SMV: body, personality, game, status, wealth etc. This goes for casual sex, repeated sex and LTRs.

Just using these as a simple example: if everything is a 5 and a girl values them equally, your SMV is 5. If your face is a 1 and everything else is a 5, your SMV is 4.2... but if you want to get this up to a 5: something would need to be a 9 or two things on 7.

That is the main reason that we say to lift (and also why MRP discredits anyone who doesn’t post their lifts & stats) because it is the easiest way to increase your SMV.

Back in 2018 there was a post about some ugly-looking ginger dude. Long story short, some redditor told a story about his older brother, who, even despite his horrendous facial structure was drowning in pussy. Key points were that he was jacked as fuck, confident as fuck and was a leader for his tribe (for example, he took his friends and some girls camping in the mountains and was doing everything by himself: bonfire, food, tents, you get the drift. Girls go crazy for leaders. He also lived an interesting life: dude travelled a lot, did martial arts, climbing, diving, all that shit.

Easier said than done, for sure, but you can either sit and whine about how unlucky you are to be like this, or actually put in work and reap your rewards later. Go tell him about how your ugly face can't get you laid.

It's good that you're realistic, ignore the guys saying "it's all in your head". Now that you know
and have accepted the reality, there's no point dwelling on it - you can build a plan based on that. As an ugly guy, you will need to massively compensate to get the same attractive girls a hot guy can get. Your first step should obviously to get in EPIC shape (we're talking perfect muscular body, 6-pack, etc.). You should also focus on becoming a millionaire within the next 5-10 years by building a business, which will allow you to get a nice car, watch and apartment. You can do that by reading loads of good business books and constantly having a business you're working on until something "hits". Then, once you can afford it, purchase some cosmetic surgery procedures to fix all your flaws (correct your jaw and nose, fix your eye, get dermal fillers, etc.). You can easily get to 7+ in attractiveness through surgeries. And the last step will be to build a social circle similar (at a lower level of course) to what Dan Bilzerian has done with attractive women constantly being around you through nightclub promoters, etc. and organizing cool events. After all this, you'll get more girls than you can handle. Will take years, but it's definitely doable if you put in the work. If you don't work towards these things, just realize you have no reason to complain about your dating life because you're just lazy.

Although I'm not sure I was as "ugly" as you are (hard to tell without pictures), it's fair to say that I definitely was not attractive at age 19. A list of my physical imperfections at that age:

-underbite

-large, hooked nose

-long, asymmetrical face

-skinny fat, weak build

-extremely crooked teeth

-bad haircut

My mouth/jaw situation was a complex case. Ultimately I had a 10 year relationship with my orthodontist. In high school I had braces, which I continued to wear through freshman year of college. The summer before college, I got cosmetic surgery on my jaw to correct the underbite. The procedure changed the overall aesthetics of my face, giving me a stronger jawline and a straighter nose.

In my mid-20s I started getting more serious about raising my SMV. I cleaned up my shitty haircut at a reputable barbershop. I got into lifting weights. I got more into fashion and grooming.

Perhaps most importantly, sometime around age 23, I lost baby fat in my face, which resulted in a much more masculine, chiseled appearance. If you want to know what I mean, look up pics of young Tom Brady and compare them to the present. Mine happened spontaneously, but a lot of guys experience it when they start lifting weights and their body composition changes.

Nobody disputes that I'm far better looking at 27. One of the more dramatic reactions came from a gay guy I knew in HS - "OMG, I didn't even recognize you, you look so good!"

I'll never be a model. I'm a 7-8 out of 10 if I had to be a douche and rate myself. I'll never have all the hot girls drooling over me, but that's okay. I'm fine with some of them drooling over me, which does happen.

Reading through these replies, I think you know what you should do. I wouldn't rule out cosmetic surgery. In the meantime, clean up the basic shit - fashion, grooming, style. You can do that more or less immediately. Building a better body takes a few years.

You are letting the opinions of other people affect you too much.

You had already proved them wrong before you even heard them say these things.

You already have good things working for you: good personality, fun to be around, people naturally looking to be lead by you.

Change what you can, the underbite and look into what if anything can be done about tear troughs, eye bags and crooked jaw.

For now, lift and grow a stubble beard to hide some imperfections of your jaw.

You are already doing a good job, you literally have got results that went against what you have heard, so don’t let it get to you.

Grow a beard and NEVER stop improving. You are still very young, and trust me, college is not your sexual prime. Lifting and bulking up will help, and if you stay at it and can maintain a positive attitude and confidence, no matter how ugly you are you'll slay some pussy. But that shouldn't be your goal. Your goal should be yourself, your career, and your hobbies. I know some fat Uggo mother fuckers that get laid all the time because they make 150k+ a year and swing their confidence around.

Apparently, improve, lift etc. But getting women to give you casual sex (which is the best kind of sex) with an SMV 3 face, is nearly impossible - and you wouldn't want 4s and 5s anyway. Fortunately, you are still young and have at least two decades of fucking ahead of you. Plan for them. What I'd do:

1) Beard - now.

2) Get cosmetic surgery - soon

A guy in the comments proposed it, and it makes sense. I don't know why we don't recommend it more often. Yeah, maybe it won't be "you" the one they lust after, but you will be the one who does the fucking. Women can't really connect on a human level anyway.

3) Plan to move to SE Asia - or Africa if you like black girls. - mid term

Depending on how (2) goes, decide if the West works for you, in getting your sexual needs met. If not, pursue a career in some place where westerners are considered attractive by default. It will make a huge difference. Huge.

Do you parents look like you? If they do, then it's all in your minds. For tens of thousands of years, there have been people finding your ancestors attractive and willing to have children with you.

If you are born in Chernobyl during the disaster and that made you ugly, you can still learn and become excellent at something, and at least you will attract 6s and 7s with no problems. There are only about 20% of men who are excellent at something, and they mostly bang 8s, 9s, and 10s. The 6s and 7s don't have much chance with those (except when they were chicks and luckily land one to become alpha widows), and many will choose success over look.
