I don’t keep many male friends, but I’ve had this problem with even my most reasonable ex’s playing devil’s advocate or bringing up EVERY possible ‘what if’ scenario to defend some random guy I’m venting to them about. And usually, I’m venting about a guy as trivial as a rude guest at work etc yet they empathize with the guy they’ve never met! It’s a bad sign to me now when they start doing that even in the slightest because bottom like they are your PARTNER and should always side with you because they know and trust you, not a random person.

Honestly, not having male friends should be in the handbook. I only know a few scenarios where such friendships work out to an extent, and one of them is where the man is gay. Still that doesnt guarantee he will understand you like a female friend would
