This is a question I’ve had for many years. As my own SMV has risen throughout the last few years, I’ve noticed an extreme increase in the number of women who express interest in my husband (together 7 years) whether that is through continuous blatant stares or attempts to get his attention right in front of me. They act like they’ve never seen an attractive man before.

BACKSTORY: I used to be super average. Maybe a solid 6 - was skinnyfat, then got chubby. Didn’t really care for my appearance. Husband has always been super buff, super high SMV. While I was terribly average, almost zero women hit on my husband or even glanced in his direction - I was always super insecure and worried about this due to my own personal self esteem issues.

CURRENT: At the risk of sounding terribly conceited (I’m so sorry) I’m now a solid 9 (or possibly even 10 if going off what many objective parties have said), super fit, snatched waist, abs, big boobs, big butt, long hair, full lips, all that jazz. Literally look like a different person. Husband still looks as buff and sexy as ever.

This transformation of mine took place a couple years back and I’ve been gradually improving ever since. Except, I suddenly now am noticing women all but drooling over my husband in my presence. Now, I don’t mind outside appreciation as it reinforces what I have and just makes me fuck him that much harder. Yet, why is this suddenly now happening? Why not before when there was a huge physical disparity between my husband and I?

I have been told by many people that I am intimidating, and I do get a lot of stares from both men and women. Yet, I ironically notice women falling over themselves to get even a shred of my husband’s attention while in my presence (they don’t succeed - we laugh). A table full of 30-somethings all turning around simultaneously to deliver the “fuck me” eyes to my husband as he returns to our dinner from visiting the restroom. Girls at the gym (who know we are married) walking past while staring at him attempting to catch his eye and acting disappointed when they don’t. Teenage girls giggling and whispering to one another while magically ending up wherever we are at the mall, zoo, etc. I could go on.

So, ladies of RP - Why do you think this occurs? Is there some weird correlation between a woman’s SMV and an outsider’s desire to mate poach? Is this an example of preselection?
