Accusations of selfishness always strike me as ill-thought through and, ironically, self-centered. Someone always makes the accusation based on their own desires, at someone else's expense, and what any one person defines as selfish is purely subjective and dependent on their preferences of what people are basically entitled to. Like you could say to someone "you're selfish for not sharing 20% of your time/ wealth with me / other people!" While someone else would peg it at 40% and others at 5%. And there's no reason to privilege one over the other.

In any case I would consider this justified if a date canceled on me. "Game 6" means that it might be his preferred team's last game of the season if they're down 2-3, and even if they're up 3-2 it's a possible series clincher. The game is important and not reschedule-able. Your date IS reschedule-able. A good partner is an accomodating partner.
