From people talking shit in other subreddits and I got curious. Figured it had to be good the flak it was getting.

[–]SigmaMu 15 points16 points17 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That's why I always make a point to blue link /r/theredpill. Anyone can spare one click, and one click's all it takes.

Big Thank You to you and guys like you. That's exactly how I got here.

Couldn't have said it better myself sigmamu

There is no bad publicity. Until reddit closes the sub.

[–]monsieurhire2 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Same here. They mentioned it in Seddit along with "Dark Triad" techniques as if it were the forbidden, dark side of the force that would lead me straight to Hell like the Necronomicon, or the box from Hellraiser.

Just found this board after 5 years of pickup and a bootcamp with RSD. Not a Redditor as I generally think sitting around on the internet trying to get people to agree with you is much lamer than going out and having adventures, talking shit, getting laid.

I'd say this is one of the best boards I've seen that relates to pickup and generally telling it like it is. Like most boards however, I do see a lot of anger on here, but it's definitely a part of the process that I went through as well. How else are you supposed to react when you realize that your father is a pussy? Only kind of joking about that.

I think what this place needs is a few more examples of how fucking beautiful and amazing women can be when you are that unflagging masculine presence in her life. Women also have some of the most hilarious blue pill stories that make for great pillow talk.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points15 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How else are you supposed to react when you realize that your father is a pussy?

Dude. I have been trying to come to terms with this for the past year. Unfortunately, very few people I've ever talked to about it have any sympathy for me on this front. Then again, I've tried talking more to women about it, before I realized they're not actually sympathetic creatures.

What it means for me now is I don't respect my father like I want to. I think of my late, WW2 vet, entrepreneur grandfather as a role model instead. I still struggle with not getting mad at my dad as I try to love him for who he is, but I also hate the feeling of pity for him. And there's a shitload of guilt in that, because he just wants to be an awesome father to me, but he can only see fatherhood as being a beta provider for me too...and it makes me almost resent him more.

I don't have any answers, but that resonates with me, and I'm glad we have TRP to express shit like that.

[–]md6191 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

How is it over there at RSD? Some of the videos I've seen give decent redpill pick-up advice, others not so much. Guys here seem to give them a lot of shit. Also, something about Owen being a fake. What was your experience?

[–]atlas87 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

I watch every video that Tyler or Alex puts out, most of them multiple times. Tyler isn't a fake at all from what I can tell, and the dude speaks the fucking truth. All his stuff on self-development outside of pickup is great. There are a lot of good anecdotes that come from pickup, but I think a lot of his ideas are limited by having to fit it in the context of a blue-piller's reality in order to reach a larger market. Here's a link to his latest video about the nature of entitlement. Pretty advanced stuff:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFTP7OHE0iE

Alex probably has the best game of anyone there. It's not gimmicky, you're not going to creep the fuck out of anyone if you're new and you do what he preaches, and it will make you a more social person in general. It's a good baseline for when you're not "in state", but some people guys I show it to think it's too boring to just talk to girls and grease the logistics at the end of the night.

It's painful for me to read the forum there because it's just report after report of a complete bastardization of the game.

The bootcamp probably wasn't worth it, but if I'm in the states next August I'll probably pay for their lifetime World Summit attendance thing, just to party with the instructors and the guys that you meet out there. The talks during the day helped build a lot of momentum as well.

[–]md6191 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

From what I saw from his infield I would have to agree. People talk though.

but I think a lot of his ideas are limited by having to fit it in the context of a blue-piller's reality in order to reach a larger market.

That I definitely could believe. The sunny, mainstream side of TRP is all good(self-improvement, self-respect, being social) but the darker side I'm sure they have to stay away from.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFTP7OHE0iE

This one I like. Sense of entitlement = high self-respect = high value male which is definitely inline with redpill thinking.

Alex probably has the best game of anyone there.

I just watched one of his infields, definitely natural looking. Looks a bit like my style of game.

The bootcamp probably wasn't worth it, but if I'm in the states next August I'll probably pay for their lifetime World Summit attendance thing, just to party with the instructors and the guys that you meet out there.

The instructors look like fun dudes either way. I'd be down to party with them even if we didn't pull.

[–]atlas87 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That I definitely could believe. The sunny, mainstream side of TRP is all good(self-improvement, self-respect, being social) but the darker side I'm sure they have to stay away from.

That's not what I originally meant, but it is very true as well. They do qualify a lot of their truths so they don't create a bunch of serial killers, which I think is probably the socially responsible thing to do. Can't create jedis without the occasional vader, so maybe best to dilute your message to begin with until you find the guys that want to see how far the rabbit hole goes.

I originally meant that when many of the RSD instructors start digging into these deeper truths, they spend a lot of time laboring the point that little Suzie wants to meet a fucking badass that will fuck her in the bathroom because a lot of guys don't want to believe it. Because so few people will accept the premise that the girl of their dreams would do something like that if no one would find out and she could pass the blame onto someone else in her own mind, you get a lot of stuff that's still aimed at converting the blue-piller to a more RP reality.

A lot of the stuff that goes beyond that are titillating stories that the masses want to hear. Not so they can go try to mimic fucking a girl in a bathroom (that would be scary), but so they can add it to the spank bank and reaffirm their belief that all women are dirty, dirty whores.

At this point I benefit more from Tyler's life-talks about how to become a better man, rather than hearing about how to actually fuck a girl in the bathroom. I know that stories like this either happen because you are making this your goal for the night and are willing to pass on girls that want to get pulled back to your house just so you can tell your boys you did it, or an un-repeatable perfect storm has occured and you were it's lucky benefactor.

[–]md6191 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Because so few people will accept the premise that the girl of their dreams would do something like that if no one would find out and she could pass the blame onto someone else in her own mind

I would say that's closer to a half-truth. Consciously, I doubt most girls are going out with the intentions of being bathroom fucked by some badass. Some are, no doubt, but not all. But there's a difference between what he conscious brain wants (commitment, especially from an alpha) to what her vagina tingles are telling her to do. That's where the rationalizing comes into play. She needs to be able to rationalize away her conscious wants in order to give in to that primal urge which she KNOWS on some level she probably shouldn't do.

At this point I benefit more from Tyler's life-talks about how to become a better man, rather than hearing about how to actually fuck a girl in the bathroom

Some I've seen were good. He did one about choosing the middle path between constant stimulation and essentially no stimulation which I thought was interesting at least.

There's some luck involved in every pick-up but yeah bathroom lays definitely have that perfect-storm effect. No friends, she's immediately into you, horny, usually a few drinks in and you just ride that emotional high right into the bathroom.

Middle path one was gold and I sent that out to a bunch of my friends. That ridiculous hat/glasses combo was cracking me up as well.

wait i didnt get the part when you said your father is a pussy can you elaborate that. im new here im trying to grasp things

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

It's a reference to the average beta provider (everything we teach against), but grown up. Coming here and realising that your dad may be one of these is hard.

[–]atorni 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I can probably grasp and accept that I'm pretty open-minded. So what is an 'average beta provider' and why is it a bad thing. (im quite sure im a beta myself from little readings in this sub)

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Head over to /r/asktrp if you're new and want questions answered. In short, what a beta provider is, is a man who does everything and everything for a woman (including giving her his wealth), puts up with shit, never complains, gets walked all over, lets the woman have all the power in the relationship, tries to appease her in every way etc

It is against what we teach because the above is a guaranteed way for a woman to hate you, and she will never give a guy like that sex, or even respect. In other words, the days of being repaid for chivalry are over as it is no longer mandated by society. Women naturally like alpha males who take what they want, and don't take shit from anyone, including women. It's a way of demonstrating that you have 'high value' (DHV is a popular acronym which means 'demonstration of high value').

Women say they want the former, but they cream for the latter. Don't listen to their words, see who they fuck.

Also, take some time to go through the sidebar texts, they are worth it.

[–]atorni 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I like the fact that you guys are noob friendly. Will read all that stuff you mentioned r/redpill really looks like what I need. I have always seemed to feel something is wrong in this society and reading a bit in this subreddit just makes the pieces of the puzzle come together. especially in my country man, what you call being a beta is being patronized and almost being advertised here man. I think Im ready to take the damn pill. any pointers on where to start aside from the sidebar?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

I always feel a need to tell guys about it, but they will only listen in their own time.

I have always seemed to feel something is wrong in this society and reading a bit in this subreddit just makes the pieces of the puzzle come together.

Helping new guys out is awesome, because EVERYONE here has been through the realisation you're going through right now, and will continue to go through. The nagging feeling that you were missing out on something, life and relationships felt muddy and unclear, right? Well now the answer is here, and it's yours for the taking.

Be patient, stick to it, lurk and read posts, don't give a fuck what people will say. Do not allow yourself to be emotionally manipulated in any way; girls will try and make you into their beta plaything. But don't hate them for it, it's just their natural instinct, like sex is to us.

We don't have laws you must follow, just guidelines. The main pillars of our community are:

  • Always be improving, physically and mentally
  • Question everything you see, even here
  • Accept reality for what it is, not what you'd like it to be

We accept women for who they are, not for who they want us to believe they are.

Start with the links in 'Not sure if the red pill is for you?' to drive home the point, then read down from there. It's a lot, but like I said, it's worth it. Personally I like reading the blogs in 'Good links'.

Good luck.

guess Ill see you arround here. You be much appreciated brother.

[–]toysjoe 21 points22 points23 points 12 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

There was a post in r/Toronto where a tourist made a comment about how the city's men and women are cold to each other.

I commented that there really doesn't feel like there's any point approaching women these days, and someone replied to me "I think you are ready", linking this subreddit.

I started reading, but I didn't truly believe it. Instead, I thought it was a playbook that you memorised and followed. I tried to act red pill but within I was still blue pill.

By acting the way I saw here, I got my first girl ever. She was gorgeous too, half Polish, half Dutch, innocent looking and pretty face. Wide hips, phat ass, just the way I like it. I don't have pictures of her but for reference she looks just like the porn star Natalie Heart. However, once I thought she was mine, I promptly went back to blue pill, and I lost her as quick as I got her.

This was my red pill moment I suppose. I realized that red pill isn't a step-by-step list of things you do. It's a way of life, a way of thinking. I feel like now I have an X-Factor inside me that I don't have words for.

Right now, there's a Persian girl in my class who's definitely into me (not as pretty as my ex, but bigger tits, nicer body, and a petite, tight ass rather than a phat, round one, also somewhat stupider), and I think this 10/10 Scandinavian blonde at the gym also likes me, but I'm a lot less certain. I haven't decided what to do about these yet.

Neither of them I had to "game". My game is self-improvement. I hit the gym daily and I focus on my workout. I'm not there to chat or hit on girls. In class I study hard. My GPA is 3.80. I stopped giving a crap about anything and anybody else.

So you could say there's a time when I found what the red pill is, and another time when I absorbed it.

My mom and I came to Canada from China. She was a single mother who raised me, and let me tell you, single mothers are one of the worst things that can happen to a child. Red Pill felt like the male role model we all should've had but didn't.

[–]NotTheRealZuck 16 points17 points18 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Amen brother.

[–]ItIsTheRealThing 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Same thing drove me here, too.

It succinctly explained illogical behavior by women. Why do women (my dumb mother included) go for such "bad" men? My dad simply wasn't "father material"—and I'm not projecting here. Yet, had multiple women while he was married to my mom. He was completely Red Pill—women loved him for it.

It still hasn't sunk in entirely, and I don't know if I'll ever be able to muster up the level of confidence (bordering on psychopathic arrogance) that my dad had to slay countless women even back in high school, judging by love letters girls wrote and stuffed his yearbook.

Hopefully I can undo the beta brainwashing and anti-masculine nonsense I was force-fed as a kid with more reading and absorption.

Just be nice to everyone and be the bigger person! Bullshit.

[–]HeadingRed 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I was a "alpha landing 'em, beta keeping them" in my 20's\30's. Lost a couple of real good ones too.

If you just want to have some fun- stay strong. If you want a LTR- your ass better stay strong.

I did the same thing. I made a post in there about women and men never going to be equal but instead being in balance with each other and I got downvoted to hell and accused of being a red piller. Wondered what it was and was very happy I found it.

[–]Mr_Mori12 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Honestly. Hitting random when my relationship was falling apart in an effort to not think about it.

This sub has helped me immensely in putting 2 and 2 together in many, many respects.

Was doing a big self improvement stint, researching PUA and what not. Ran across someone mentioning "The Red Pill" and looked it up. Lurked on here for months before finally deciding to make an account. I don't do reddit, simply can't stand internet forum warriors.

[–]Skio89 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Suffering from a 3 year heartache after a 5 year "The One" relationship ended + a drunken, rock bottom stupor. Went on a search for some kind of answer to it all, read a few blogs (ROK, sosuave, but took them as a joke). Eventually discovered The Rationale Male through a singleblackmale.org commenter, which led me here.

Haven't looked back since.

I always thought modern day feminism was a crock of shit, but when I watched Anita Sarkeesian get $200,000 to talk about feminism in video games, I had all I can stands and I can't stands no more.

[–]scallopkid 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

SRS's list of "low hanging fruit." I guess it worked against them lol.

[–]Incense_Archer 10 points11 points12 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Angry feminist in a comment section mentioned it mockingly, and someone said that this is why they need feminism.Figured if they hated it this much that it must be worth at least looking into.

So, there was a mod on a game that I used to play that had put "Taking the Red Pill is a waste of time if you wash it down with Kool-Aid" on his signature for forum posts. I find that amusing. So...

During this past summer: I knew that the Red Pill was a Matrix reference so I looked up the Kool-Aid part, but then I wanted to watch the part in the movie where the pills are presented. At this point in time I had just found reddit and I found subreddits amusing, so I decided to add theredpill to reddit to see if anyone had any truths about life they had to share.

Personally, I wasn't expecting anything about sexual strategy, but it was very welcome anyways and I started reading all of the material I could on the sidebar and some other websites during the summer, and I still do.

Damn I'm lucky!

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Referred by a TRPer after making a post to /r/relationships.

[–]jolly--roger 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Probably the same here, I honestly don't remember - and I don't really care.

[–]tserberus 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Not really the most dramatic of stories. I was watching the Matrix movies one night and I thought "Oh what the hell, let's see what we can find on reddit". Typed in /r/TheRedPill, and the rest is history. Honestly it couldn't have come at a better time. At the time I was beginning to become aware of all the redpill based things around me, yet I wasn't quite so sure. /r/TheRedPill gave me that final push. Haven't looked back since.

[–]blinkyone 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Seeing that you stumbled upon TRP randomly, I'm curious as to how was your life before and after learning and applying the concepts?

[–]tserberus 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Quite frankly I think you can already guess. It's changed radically.

Keep in mind that at the time I stumbled across TRP I was already beginning to adopt some redpill concepts in my brain subconsciously. Before I swallowed the redpill my last two girlfriends had cheated on me - I was your quintessential beta. I was a doormat, I wasn't assertive, my voice had no commanding weight to it - in sum, I was a little bitch. They were extremely manipulative, I promised myself that I would never allow myself to be manipulated by a woman again.

So, I started working out and fast forward two years I had achieved my ideal physique and gained entry into law school at 19 (law here is offered at undergrad). I attended one of the camps that they offered new students a place to mingle, just three days of nonstop drinking and fucking. It was there that I realised that the whole concept of women going for personality over looks was a complete and utter lie fed to us by the social forces around us. I had never gotten so much attention in my life and was immediately known as the big man on campus. This from the guy who was known as the nerd/dork in high school. I basically reclaimed my masculinity. I find it funny how women think they have a free pass at groping a man's biceps, chest and back.

I formed a coherent and loyal social circle of other likeminded men around me and their mateship is something that I really cherish. I've hooked up with several of the women in my social circle of 'friends' and am 90% sure several others want my cock too. The number one thing that I realised is my own self worth as a man and how I had suddenly become a high value male. I realised that a lot of redpill thinking confirmed a lot of the stuff I observe in the women around me - the sense of entitlement, the false sense of victimhood, the constant hypocrisy that comes out of their mouth.

Do I regret taking the red pill? No, not in the slightest, I've never made a better decision in my life.

[–]qstnnblmtrl 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

By hitting the random subreddit button. It came at the perfect time too: I was in a LDR with a black girl who I liked a lot but she was pretty much social justice warrior and found everything bad to be the fault of white men and that they were the ones keeping her down in life (I'm a white male lol). She was always filled with indignation and it got to be ridiculous.

More importantly though, I realized she didn't respect me because I bought into the whole beta shit halfway thru the relationship. I realized how much I had sacrificed and how much I had done for her and for next to nothing on her end. I did all chores when we would see one another and she wouldn't do any work, wouldn't cook, wouldn't clean, just spend time on Twitter all day. Towards the end of the relationship she stopped wanting sex because she studied abroad in Europe and gained some weight (although to be honest I like thicker women anyway).

I knew it couldn't continue, but I was weak and thought that is just the way it is, I respect everything she does even if I don't get what I want, until I stumbled upon here. This was about 3 months ago, we broke up 2 months ago, and now I am feeling a lot better about myself, especially knowing that there is this community here that shares views I've had before discovering TRP but had to repress because that's what society and feminism and political correctness and all this bullshit tells you to do.

I saw a link in /r/seduction a loooong time ago. I can't imagine finding that link there now.

I'm personally not convinced that anyone can BECOME alpha. I tend to believe that you either are, or you are not. It's a "state of being, not a state of mind" as far as I'm concerned. You might be able to fake it; but you're not fooling me.

Fake it till you make it. My guess is most here had natural Red Pill leanings before finding this sub, but I believe you can change who you are, I believe you can recreate yourself out of habit.

That's what I'm trying to do.

When i was frantically searching for answers, when my ex-girlfriend of 5 years left me in the most stupid way imaginable.

[–]rodStewart 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How did she leave?

[–]Noolaw 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Broke up by text. I called her out that there was another guy in the picture and she lied to me. It was the most painful experience in my life. I went no contact the following day. It's a very long story.

I was reading a thread on askmen, and someone mentioned 'those misogynists over at the red pill'.

My experience told me that a group of actual misogynists was highly unlikely, so i investigated. Turns out i was right.

I made a "sexist" comment once and someone snarkily said "oh you must subscribe to /r/theredpill" and I clicked it and thought yeah, I should subscribe to this.

I think I first saw it on r/AskMen. I remember my initial reaction - "these guys are bitter and out of their fucking mind mind" LOL.

Ask reddit thread asking for subreddit. I think they wanted weird or bad subreddits, someone linked here.

Business Insider.

Thought to myself: holy crap, there are other men who see this shit!

[–]Modredpillschool 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I knew the creator.

Edit: Though I discovered the truth of the red pill probably about a year and a half ago. I had been pretty invested in looking into seduction, but I was always very curious why women acted so.. negatively.

Like, I wanted to pick up chicks, but when they didn't have the decency to treat guys like humans and just reject them nicely, or hell- give them a chance, I thought, man there's gotta be more to this.

I think you invited me when I was frustrated with all the circle jerking in /r/seduction ... thanks dude.

Heard about it while browsing seddit from another account many moons ago, there couldn't have been more than 200 subscribers when I first found it. I had somehow stumbled on Rational Male shortly beforehand right around when it hit it's first year so I got most of my RP introduction all at once from the "Year One" post. Lurked on TRP for a while with my main account, made Steelwoolsocks as an alt. and the rest is history.

I found it lodged pretty thoroughly in my throat, damn near choking me to death. Still swallowing, but at least now I know it ain't gonna kill me.

In all seriousness, I don't remember. Probably via Men's Rights.

Searched reddit for topics related to my profession. A random RP thread about a woman hamstering at work in that profession came up in the results. Agreed with the comments and kept reading. Actually read the sidebar and lurked for a while instead of making a "Hey guys WTF is the red pill?" post.

was reading through some thread full of feminist and whiteknight drivel, someone then linked here trying to be "witty" and mocking TRP. clicked link and the rest is history. the ironic thing is that i would say 75% of the subs here have come from being linked from people who were trying to mock TRP and instead they have inadvertently helped us grow......bigtime. thanks feminism!!

Had started watching some stardusk and Barbarossa videos, find one on Briffault's law. After searching for more articles on it I found TRP. Best thing I've come across on Reddit.

I was friend-zoned pussy virgin and wanted to do something about it. This place has given me a solid framework to use. I never had a male role model, my dad was always busy with my brother. I assumed I was more like my mother, and I never really learned how to be a man. This place has taught me how to value myself more than anyone else and work towards becoming fearless.

A nasty break up where i was more invested in the relationship than she was. I knew about seduction before and during my last LTR, but I lost my self in the relationship. I hit the seduction stuff hard, then found the red pill from there. I have been truly fascinated with the process of understanding more how women think, their nature, and accepting of that. I still see my ex on occasion, she cant keep her hands off me now despite losing attraction to me before. Knowing that i am sleeping with other women drives her mad. Pre-selection and social proof are incredibly powerful tools.

[–]HeadingRed 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

From the fitness sub and the relationship sub. Was working on getting myself in shape and making my relationship better. Using TRP as the central point for both of those things. While not all the posts are of interest to me, some are highly valuable. Talking more about the MMSL stuff and not the MGTOW or PUA threads.

That being said, the PUA stuff works around the house quite well (in and out of the bedroom).

If you're talking about the subreddit. I found it on r/askreddit.

If you are talking about IRL. I found it when my girlfriend of a year and a half revealed her two other boyfriends. I've never trusted another woman since that moment.

Despite my beta ideals, I still felt this void about my life in relationships that just didn't make much sense.

A college friend of mine lent me the book, "The Game" and I just took it at face value. It didn't really amount to much for me, I don't recall even finishing it. I learned a little about negging and other such techniques.

Later on in life after two failed relationships in a row I discovered blogs like TheArtofManliness.com and many others. A few of them linked to this sub, and I followed it.

Now I'm pretty much checking up on this sub every day.

I was subscribed to seddit after seeing an ama there from neil/style. A couple months later there was a dude named "pk_athiest" that was expressing frustrations with seddit becoming feminized, and posted this really bold sounding declaration of this new redpill subreddit. I had ran into the term a couple times reading things here and there beforehand so I joined it out of curiosity. I unsubbed and came back about 3 times since then, mostly out of concern for being doxxed, then I made a separate account solely for redpill purposes, doing my best to delete all connections to this place from my old handle.

I've been following RSD and /r/seduction for three years, knowing it inside out. However, I realize that a lot of the intellectual manosphere blogs such as The Rawness broke things down way more intuitively and applicable in my circumstance. I felt that I couldn't just go bombard and get blown out by 100 sets, to then rationalize and look like a fool playing it off as practice.

I live in a dense and intimate area where I don't have the luxury yet to bounce city-to-city or relocate, like the instructors I see online. I was personally tipped off to study psychology and when I delve into my own personal issues, I found the entirety of this academic study to be more encompassing than to just narcissitically absorb the followings of XYZ person. In other words, I was looking to find ways to self-empower myself and what I realize now to change and re-invigorate my internalize mindset.

I felt around this mid year, the typical concepts of all things pick-up was becoming too mainstream and commercialized to be worthy of following it anymore. There was a lot of debates going on with the manosphere and mensright of being wronged by feminists and sticking it in the crazies where I found TRP and felt this was the next level – what I was exactly looking for in the next transition.

Don't Remember.

[–]blackd0ts 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

A very close friend whom I had viewed as a role model guided my way with how I should treat women. I took his advice and got a gf, fulfilling life at college, etc.

A year ago I had found out that this friend had committed suicide. 23/24 years old, great person socially and a really cool dude that was everything I wanted or aspired to be. For the next few months, I wondered why he killed himself, and as of June this year, the answers were too clear.

He was raised primarily by his mother, his father was a truck driver who was gone most of the time as well. Couple that with homeschooling and only faith-based socialization, it's an interesting mix. He had a large degree of control in his life it seemed, and was definitely figuring out where to take his life, but no matter what direction he did it successfully.

I was able to piece together why someone who had everything on lockdown was capable of reaching a point such as suicide. Along some time I came across materials similar to TRP and TRP as well; it was scarily accurate how much some of the principles aligned with the reasons why my friend killed himself.

Having something as drastic as a friends suicide creates ripples in peoples lives, and it sparked a change for my life, that many close friends won't ever understand.

Yeah it's a tough reality to deal with since I'm very selective about my friendships.

He was raised to treat women as if they were on a half-pedestal of sorts, additionally he was raised primarily by his mother(his parents are married), while his father was gone for a week or two at a time working. They interacted and got along well, but he was gone enough for the ideals of his mother to reach in and confuse his identity of what a man is supposed to be on a functional level.

After time I had found out that his relationships with women weren't as spectacular as they appeared to be. From all of the times I had seen how he acts with people, I followed and took note. He inspired my life's action and moxie. However I was soon finding out that the ideals that he was taught(and had taught me) had been nothing but smoke tricks, and would do nothing more for him than cause undue frustration. Combine this with a history of alcholism in the family as well as depression, it's an easy conclusion to reach.

I'm a new member to this subreddit, but I've been one to see through the BS of a lot of people, and it felt refreshing(and upsetting) to see that what I was seeing was much different than what I was told the truth is to be.
