Edited to add after seeing 100s of comments: Please re-read the title before commenting.
Second edit to add: I'm surprised by how many men are misreading the second line of the title. Just to be clear, there was no typo in both sentences of my title. The second sentence in the title says, "Nearly no man knows a man who has raped", NOT "Nearly no man knows a man who has been raped". Of course, there should be no reason to add this, but I will anyway because so many men are becoming myopic about this: people raping people is horrifying regardless of gender.
Hopefully my last edit and then I'm gone: It was interesting how, before (and for a few hours after) the second edit, so many men rushed to claim they know men who were raped too. I want to acknowledge this properly - people raping people is horrifying. If you're a man and were sexually assaulted by another woman or man, please report them and get support from the correct channels. It is unfortunate that the world we live in right now doesn't take assaults on men seriously, and I hope this changes soon. However, this is a women's sub and I made a post with women in mind. When I made this post, I'd read this comment in the title on another post in the sub, and it got me thinking about how some behaviors are creepy and predatory, and why we aren't calling them out. So men, we don't expect your friends to announce to you that they are rapists, because as you already know, someone who has committed such a crime isn't going to talk about it. However, you do know people who say things or behave in a way that can contribute to rape culture - your worldview may not have registered it yet, but please keep your eyes open and call out your friends when this happens.
I read a sentence similar to this on this sub and recalled a conversation with my ex that took place around 2012.
My ex and his colleagues were in a parking lot when they saw a woman walk by. One of my ex's colleagues said, "She's got a body I want to rape." He used the word "rape". I asked my ex if he said anything, confronted his colleague about the statement. He said no, he didn't want to create a rift between him and his colleagues.
I recall another time a male friend of this ex commented how he likes bird watching aka ogling women. I immediately called him out on it, but my ex took his friend's side. In fact, he was so convinced that the bird watching comment was harmless and that I was just "overreacting" and "sensitive" that he brought it up for years.
Why do men stand by and not recognize or stand up to creepy behavior of their male counterparts?

35-year-old heterosexual man here. I’m as normal as they come. When I was a young boy one of my moms friends son tried to molest me and we believe he was probably being molested by somebody as a child. I don’t count that as rape but he definitely attempted to give me a blow job we were six years old. Fast forward to about 12 years ago, the mother of my child forced sex in exchange for lenient child support. That’s rape as I understand it. Sex much against my will; it was awful.

When you define rape as the victim being penetrated by the perpetrator, the sex with the outie genetalia is nearly all the perpetrators. Amazing how that happens.
Now let's look at rape in a gender neutral way...
CDC's National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Surveys shows that:
NISVS 2010 showed that in the past 12 months, 1.1% of men were made to penetrate and 1.1% of women were raped. Look at Table 2.1 and 2.2 on pages 18 and 19 respectively.
NISVS 2011 showed that in the past 12 months, 1.7% of men were made to penetrate and 1.6% of women were raped. Look at Table 1 on page 5.
NISVS 2012 showed that in the past 12 months, 1.7% of men were made to penetrate and 1.0% of women were raped. Look at Table A.1 and A.5 on pages 217 and 222 respectively.
NISVS 2015 showed that in the past 12 months, 0.7% of men were made to penetrate and 1.2% of women were raped. Look at Table 1 and 2 on page 15 and 16 respectively
The numbers for perpetrators vary a little from year to year too. Something like 79-84% of made to penetrate (envelopment) perpetrators are women. Something like 96-99% of rape (penetration) perpetrators are men. So it averages out that in a typical year a pretty close to equal number of men and women experience nonconsensual sex and has about 60% of people (yes, men are people too) are victimized by men and 40% by women.
So why do you doubt that women also know men raped by women? I personally know a couple.

[–]duhhhh 13 points14 points15 points (0 children) | Copy Link
I am often called an incel on reddit for commenting about male domestic violence victims (about half of DV victims are male with a gender neutral definition of DV), male rape victims (about 40% of rapists are women raping men with a gender neutral definition of rape), or female victims that were sex trafficked by women (almost 40% of sex traffickers are women). All my evidence (government data) is misogynistic. All my logic is incel.
Based on all the times I was called an incel, I finally figured it out. Incels are the biggest group of people concerned with relationship violence, nonconsensual sex, and women being forced into prostitution. Interesting that people without sexual relationships support those of us with sex/relationship issues so much. Very compassionate group of folks!

No but it is feminists' fault seeing as they (Mary Koss) has been the driving force behind defining rape in modern society for decades, and it has been her and anyone who defers to her that has excluded male victims of rape.
When policy is changed to exclude men, and people follow that policy, then men don't view women raping men as a real thing.

Personally I can't say I know anyone who is a rapist. If I did, I would report it to a LEO and then stop being friends with that person. That is based on the assumption that I knew without a doubt that they were in fact a rapist. Like, I would have had to see it as it is happening, and my reaction to seeing it would be to rip the dude off of the girl, because what kind of person would stand by and watch a women get raped? I think the overwhelming majority of people being witnessed to this would intervene.
[–]OriginalFinnah 0 points1 point2 points (1 child) | Copy Link

Most men don't hang out willingly with horrible people. Rapists aren't going to brag about it. And rapists tend to have multiple victims so you are less likely to meet them.

[–]unjustexistence 27 points28 points29 points (3 children) | Copy Link
I don't know any men that raped anyone. So there must be an awful lot of women lying about being raped.
[–]CyberDagger 14 points15 points16 points (1 child) | Copy Link
There is a very simple explanation for this that many people seem to miss: the overwhelming majority of rapists are repeat offenders. One rape victim does not equate to one rapist.
Also, unlike what feminist dogma tells us, rapists don't rape because they don't know it's wrong. We already "teach men not to rape". Rapists know it's wrong, they just don't care. Some people are just evil like that, psychopaths and sociopaths, blank slate theory is nonsense. They're not going to be telling their mates about their escapades when they know it's something punished by society.
[–]OmnipotentToot 2 points3 points4 points (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah lol I responded to your other comment already LOL. But no that's what the hymen is there for is to protect your vagina when you're a virgin sometimes it can break on accident but it's not meant to, why you think pads exist? LOL
[–]YouLookGoodInASmile -2 points-1 points0 points (8 children) | Copy Link
I'm pretty sure pads exist so we dont get blood everywhere from periods. Yeah it's there to protect the vagina but it's not virginity. Instead it's there to stop bacteria.
[–]OriginalFinnah 0 points1 point2 points (7 children) | Copy Link
Dude do some history research that's what tampons are for pads or for people that don't use tampons ie: virgins with intact hymens or people with super heavy flow
[–]YouLookGoodInASmile -1 points0 points1 point (6 children) | Copy Link
im pretty sure my virgin friends who use tampons would say different. I even used them once.. im pretty sure I havent had sex. I just use pads because theyre easier and comfier to me.
Menstrual cups exist because people were scared of bacteria from the rags.
Sanitary napkins exist because theyre good at absorbing blood.
Tampons exist because people were scared of bacteria from the rags.
THEY WERE HESITANT to use tampons because of moral concerns.. but thats not why they were made.
More pads and menstrual cups were made because of the fear of toxic shock syndrome.
and feminists invented free bleeding.. Yikes.

If you don't mind using the silicone cups those are great. And I'm not saying you can't use them if you're a virgin I'm saying if you still have your hymen you're just going to use pads because you're a virgin when you're not trying to purposely rip it that's stupid the only people that are virgins that use tampons are people that had those accidentally broken
[–]YouLookGoodInASmile 0 points1 point2 points (4 children) | Copy Link
All im tryna say is virginity does not equal hymen.

Funny how men being raped is "rare" but I happened to work in a place where I worked with 2 of these "rarities."
One by his girlfriend when he was 18 and told her he wanted to wait till marriage, she got him drunk and then tied him up, he woke to find her on top of him. (He's 33 now) He reported it to the police but was laughed at and told to go celebrate.
The other by his older sister's friends when he was 12 they were all 16-18 years old. He was raped so hard and long that he had to have surgery to fix his penis. And was told by his priest that he should be thankful that his sister's friends did this to him. He's about 54 now
